We’re excited to welcome families back for another year of reading, playing, talking, and learning together! Little Readers is offered on Mesquite ISD elementary campuses and is designed for families with children under 5. These groups offer fun, interactive stories, activities, and a free book at every session.

Whether you joined us last year or this is your first time, we’d love to see you at a Little Readers group this year!

Calling all kiddos who love stories and nature! 🌳🌳📖📖

Historic Mesquite is hosting Storyfest! on Saturday, September 5th at Opal Lawrence Historical Park!

In partnership with MesquiteTx Public Library System and Read Play Talk, the historic house museum will feature two storywalk trails around the park, library card sign-ups, the Read Play Talk book bus, and more family fun!

The Read Play Talk Pop-Ups are back for the 2026–2027 school year!

The Read Play Talk Bus and team will be making four stops across our community on Mesquite ISD Professional Learning Days. Families can join us for fun, free activities and opportunities to connect with Read Play Talk!

📍 November 2 – City Lake Park
📍 February 1 – Mesquite Public Library
📍 March 1 – Alcott Park

The Read Play Talk Summer Pop-Ups are back again this summer!

We’ll be making four stops around Mesquite and Balch Springs, and we can’t wait to see families there. At each pop-up, families can explore the Read Play Talk Bus, receive free books and giveaways, and visit inside the library to get a library card and check out books.

These events are a fun and easy way for families to read, play, and talk together all summer long. We hope to see you at one of our pop-ups — or even all four!
