As a result of the current Coronavirus currently affecting our daily lives and based on the requirements issued by our local, state and national governments, the Garland Softball Association has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Spring softball season.
We were told that we couldn’t resume our leagues until May 9th, at the earliest by the City of Garland Parks and Recreation Department. Our decision to cancel the Spring season will allow us to begin our Summer season on Friday, May 15th and play a normal eight-game schedule for the Summer and Fall league seasons. We would NOT play on Friday, May 22nd through Monday, May 25th as we celebrate the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Our league fees will remain at the $375 entry fee for the summer leagues. This tentative schedule is always subject to change based on the ongoing health crisis we are experiencing.
For those who were participating in the Spring leagues, the following information is important to you. If you played in the Spring and have fully or partially paid your league entry fee, we will be refunding your fees that have been paid less a $25 team registration fee which is paid annually to the USSSA National office. After deducting the registration fee from your $375 entry fee, each team is playing an 8-game schedule for $350, or $43.75 per game. If your team played in one league game and have paid the full entry fee, we will send you a check in the amount of $306.25. which pays for the registration fee and one league game. If your team played in two league games, your check amount would be $262.50; three games would result in your receiving a check in the amount of $218.75; and finally, if your team played in four games, your check would be $175.
If your team didn’t fully pay for their 2020 league fees, you can deduct the $25 team registration fee and the cost of the number of games played from the amount you’ve paid at this time.
If your team hasn’t paid your entry fee at this time, you will need to write a check to GSA for the $25 team registration fee plus the $43.75 cost for each game played. You and your team will not be eligible to participate in the summer or fall leagues if your spring league fees that are due have not been paid by April 15, 2020.
To receive your check, each coach will need to contact your league Commissioner and confirm with them the number of games your team played and the amount your team has paid to GSA for your league fees for the 2020 spring season. Your Commissioner will also need your mailing address (city/zip), email address and cell phone number as well as your DOB for the USSSA team registration template. We would like to have this information to us no later than April 15, 2020 so we can get these refund checks mailed out ASAP. Hopefully, you will receive them in time to use them toward your Summer league entry fees.
