🐾 HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY! 🐾

Today is a day to celebrate dogs—the goofy ones, the snuggly ones, the wild little puppies, and the ones who somehow manage to take up an entire bed. ❤️

But for some of our Salty Dogs, National Dog Day is still being celebrated without a family of their own.

🐶 Bessie is a 2–3-year-old Boxer mix with SO much love to give. She is silly, goofy, affectionate, and guaranteed to keep you laughing.

🐶 Roxy is around 3 years old and a Jack Russell mix. She is an amazing girl who has been patiently waiting for someone to realize that she's the one.

🐶 Captain just turned 8 weeks old, has officially been fixed, and is ready to start the next chapter of his life with a family of his very own!

🍂 And then we have our Fall Pups! Six absolutely adorable small to medium mixed breed puppies who will be ready to head to their forever homes on September 3rd.

And these are just some of the incredible dogs currently waiting for their people.

We feel so incredibly blessed that we get to be a small part of their journeys—to get them out of shelters, into loving foster homes, healthy, safe, and ready for whatever comes next.

But rescue isn't supposed to be their final destination. Home is. 🏡❤️

So our wish this National Dog Day is simple:

✨ That by this time next year, every one of these dogs is celebrating National Dog Day exactly where they belong—at home, with their people. ✨

When Lucky was found by a farmer, he was lying in a field beside a post, nose-to-nose with his best friend.

Both dogs were covered in more than 200 ticks and suffering from severe tick paralysis. Lucky's friend had already passed away. Lucky was fading quickly too, lying beside the friend he couldn't save. 💔

But a shelter worker looked at Lucky and decided he deserved a chance.

And somehow, this boy fought.

Over the next few days, Lucky slowly began gaining strength. When we heard his story, there was no question—we immediately went to get him.

At first, Lucky was terrified. He had been through so much, and it was clear he was grieving the loss of his best friend. But little by little, something changed.

He started trusting.

Then he started playing.

And eventually, it was like Lucky remembered that life could be beautiful again. ❤️

Maybe the best way he could honor the friend he lost was to live enough for both of them.

And that is exactly what he's doing.

Today, Lucky is living life to the absolute fullest. He loves other dogs, he's an incredible sweetheart, and he's got that wonderful, goofy, loving black Lab personality that makes you fall in love with him almost immediately.

Lucky is approximately 2–3 years old, already neutered, and ready to find his forever family.

After everything this boy survived, we want the rest of his story to be filled with nothing but love, adventures, belly rubs, toys, soft beds, and a family who will make sure he never has to wonder if he's safe again.

Lucky fought incredibly hard for this life.

Now we need someone to show him just how wonderful that life can be. 🐾💙

🐭💕 HOW is Mouse still available?!

Our little Mouse is around 4 months old now and officially ready to find her forever family! And if you're looking for a small puppy with a BIG personality, this girl might be it. 😂

Mouse looks like a little Chihuahua mix and has allllll the sass packed into one tiny body. She's playful, sweet, funny, affectionate and has all the puppy energy you could want without needing a giant house or backyard to enjoy it.

Her foster family absolutely ADORES her — foster mom, foster siblings and all. ❤️ She's had the chance to grow in her foster home surrounded by love, other dogs and a family who has helped her become the confident, happy little girl she is today.

Mouse does have some issues with her knees that we're keeping an eye on. Right now, they don't slow her down or impact her at all. Because she's still such a young, growing puppy, it's unclear whether this is something she'll outgrow or whether she'll ever need any follow-up care in the future.

What we do know is that Mouse isn't worried about it one bit. She's busy being a puppy. 🐶💨

She would be a fantastic option for someone who wants all the fun, playfulness and ridiculousness of puppyhood but needs a smaller dog who can fit comfortably into apartment, condo or smaller-space living.

Mouse has been waiting patiently while so many other puppies have found their families.

✨ And just like that… the S*x and the City litter is SAFE. 🗽🐾💕

Meet Charlotte and her three little ladies — Carrie, Samantha & Miranda! 💗

These four girls found themselves in a rural Florida shelter, but Mama Charlotte made sure her babies had everything they needed while they waited for help.

At around 2 years old, Charlotte is still nursing her three approximately 3-month-old puppies. She poured absolutely everything she had into keeping them fed and cared for — and you can see it. Mama is incredibly skinny, while her three girls are thriving. 🥺❤️ She did her job. She got them to safety.

Now it's our turn to take care of her.

Charlotte, Carrie, Samantha and Miranda are officially safe with Salty Dog Rescue and settling into loving foster homes where they can decompress, get healthy, and finally learn that the hard part is over. 🏡🐾

Over the next few days, we can't wait to watch their personalities start to unfold as they get comfortable. They'll receive their remaining medical care, be spayed, and then it'll be time to find the forever homes they deserve.

And something tells us these ladies are going to have a LOT of personality. 💅😂

🐾 SIX TINY NEW ARRIVALS! 🐾

Meet the newest members of the Salty Dog family — six adorable Chihuahua mix puppies! 💙💗

These 3 boys and 3 girls arrived at a rural Florida shelter without their mama, and now they’re safe with us. At just 4–6 weeks old and around 3.5 lbs each, they’re still itty-bitty babies, so our amazing fosters will be giving them all the love, snuggles, and care they need until they’re old enough for their forever homes. 🥹❤️

They’ll be heading to the vet soon for their initial vetting and will be ready to go home once they’re 8 weeks old.

Based on their current size and age, we expect them to grow into larger small to medium-sized dogs — basically the perfect little adventure buddies. 🐶

And personality-wise? They’re exactly what you’d expect: sweet, silly, playful, cuddly little puppies who are ridiculously cute and have absolutely no idea how adorable they are.

⚠️ We expect these babies to go FAST. If you’ve been waiting for a puppy, we highly recommend getting your application in now rather than waiting until they’re ready to go home!

🐾 MEET WIGGLES — LOOKING FOR A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME! 🐾

Okay, we are officially in love with this guy. 😭💙

Meet Wiggles, an approximately 5-year-old, ridiculously cute, fun-loving, people-adoring boy that we would love to help find a home for the local shelter!

And that means…

🎉 WIGGLES’ ADOPTION FEE IS $0! 🎉

Yep — this handsome guy is a FREE adoption through the county shelter!

Wiggles is an absolute LOVE with people. ❤️ He was fantastic with his foster family, including the kids, and has greeted every new person he’s met like they’re his newest best friend. He’s sweet, silly, affectionate and just an all-around wonderful dog.

He’s also extra special: Wiggles is missing part of his back right foot. 🐾 But don’t worry — the shelter is already working on having a prosthetic made just for him, and his related medical expenses are being covered by the shelter. His future family won’t be expected to take on those costs.

There is one thing Wiggles is asking for in his next home:

🏡 He really wants to be your one and only pet.

While Wiggles has played appropriately with other dogs, we’ve learned more about him since getting him into a home environment. Sharing his personal space, belongings and people seems to make him anxious. We don’t know everything this sweet boy experienced before he landed at the shelter, but we do know that he deserves the chance to finally feel completely safe.

We would LOVE to help find him either:

🐾 A foster home with no other pets where he can decompress and enjoy being part of the family

OR

🏡 Even better… his forever family, where Wiggles can finally be the center of someone’s world.

✨ Still waiting... and we honestly can't understand why. 💙

Millie is the perfect older puppy companion!

Millie has an old hip injury from when she was a tiny puppy. She may need additional treatment as she gets older, or she may not. For now she gets along great on it. But if you watch this video, you'll see what we see every single day—a happy, playful puppy who absolutely lives for the water! 🌊🐾

She splashes, plays, zooms, and enjoys life to the fullest. She doesn't let anything slow her down, and neither should anyone looking for their next best friend.

Millie is sweet, goofy, affectionate, and full of love. She's still just a puppy with so much life ahead of her, and she deserves a family that sees her for the incredible girl she is.

💕 Those adorable little tippy taps... how has no one scooped up Roxy yet?! 🥹

Every morning, Roxy does the cutest happy dance while she waits for breakfast. Those little tippy taps are just one of the many reasons we've fallen completely in love with this sweet girl.

Honestly... we just can't understand why she's still waiting for her forever home.

Roxy is everything you could ask for in a dog. She's quiet, calm, easygoing, and happiest when she's curled up next to her favorite person on the couch. She's crate trained, settles beautifully in her crate, and is simply a joy to have around. She's the kind of dog who makes life easier, not harder.

The only thing holding people back seems to be that Roxy is heartworm positive. But here's the good news: Salty Dog Rescue will cover the entire cost of her heartworm treatment. Her adopter won't pay a penny for it. The treatment consists of just three injections over two veterinary visits, and we'll take care of the expense.

So please don't let a temporary medical condition keep you from meeting your forever best friend.

Roxy has so much love to give, and she's been patiently waiting for someone to choose her. We know her perfect family is out there—we just need them to see this post.
