The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana is the largest hunger relief organization in the Region, and the only food bank serving Lake and Porter counties. It has been leading Northwest Indiana’s fight against hunger since 1982 and distribute more than 4.2 million meals each year to hungry kids, adults and seniors in the community. Each month, the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana serves more than 23,000 individuals and families through its 100+ partner agencies, mobile distributions, and direct service hunger relief programs like the Commodity Supplemental Food Program for seniors and the BackPack program for kids. The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and a member of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization and a powerful and efficient network of 200 food banks across the country. As food insecurity rates hold steady at the highest levels ever, the Feeding America network of food banks has risen to meet the need.

When severe storms and extended power outages impact Northwest Indiana, recovery doesn't end when the lights come back on.

The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana has received a total of $190,000 in storm recovery funding made possible by NIPSCO and the NiSource Charitable Foundation, in partnership with the Porter County Community Foundation, Legacy Foundation, and Crown Point Community Foundation. These funds support the Food Bank's Mobile Market program, partner agency distributions, and other disaster response efforts across Lake and Porter counties.

Between August and September, the Food Bank proudly served 300,000 neighbors through our disaster relief efforts. With the support of community partners, we can continue helping our neighbors access the food and resources they need during difficult times.
