What an incredible evening celebrating the 2026 LakerBots season!

Tuesday night, we gathered with our sponsors, families, mentors, community members, and team to reflect on a season filled with growth, perseverance, achievement, and unforgettable memories. From our first build sessions to competing on the world stage, this season has been nothing short of extraordinary, and we were honored to celebrate it together.

A special thank you goes to Hart's Turkey Farm Restaurant for hosting a wonderful evening, Erica from Event Essentials for helping make the event so special, and the entire Laker Crew for the countless hours of work behind the scenes to make the banquet a success.

We also had the privilege of celebrating our four graduating seniors: Hayden, Aiden, Anthony, and Wil. Each of you has left a lasting impact on this team, and we are excited to see where your futures in engineering and beyond take you. Once a LakerBot, always a LakerBot!

These awards recognize individuals who exemplify dedication, growth, leadership, service, and the spirit of our team. A special congratulations to Bill Kaik, whose willingness to jump in wherever needed and unwavering support of the LakerBots has made a tremendous impact on our program.

Finally, thank you to all of our mentors for your commitment, patience, and countless hours invested in our students. A very special thank you goes to Coach Joe Derrick, the steady hand behind it all. Thank you for keeping everything moving forward, answering every question, solving every problem, and always remaining calm through every challenge. Your leadership has helped shape not only this team, but the students who are part of it.

Thank you to everyone who made this season possible. The future is bright for the LakerBots, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.

🏆 BattleCry 2026 Recap – Lakerbots FRC 8046 🏆

The Lakerbots’ BattleCry run came to an end today after a very close final playoff match. We fought hard right down to the last second but came up just short. While the outcome wasn’t what we were hoping for, this team has so much to be proud of.

Throughout the event, we competed with an entirely new drive team in nearly every match—many of them brand-new students this season. That speaks volumes about the leadership, mentorship, and culture that has been built within this team. To be able to put new students on the field and have them rise to the challenge is a huge accomplishment in itself.

We may not have advanced any further in the bracket, but we certainly did not end the day empty-handed.

🏅 The Lakerbots were honored with the General Staff Award, recognizing teams that embody the FIRST Core Values of Inclusion and Impact.

As described by the event staff:

“This team makes an impact on the world around them in every possible way. From building tools for students and athletes with special needs, to making the environment more accessible to all, to ensuring that nature stays preserved for future generations, they have managed to include all types of community members in their field of influence. Keeping their lakes and landfills a little bit cleaner, congratulations and keep up the good work to Team 8046.”

This award means the world to us because it recognizes something bigger than robots. It recognizes the way our students serve their community, lift others up, and work to make the world a little better than they found it.

What an incredible way to close out the season. We couldn’t be more proud of this team and everything they have accomplished.

🚨 PLAYOFF UPDATE! 🚨

The Lakerbots are still battling their way through the playoffs! 💙🤖

We just wrapped up our fourth playoff match and secured our third win! 🏆

It’s been a whirlwind with quick turnarounds between matches, and we’re already gearing up to head into our fifth playoff match. ⚡

Our new blocker has definitely become a crowd favorite. Teams have been stopping by the pit to ask questions, check it out up close, and snap photos. It’s exciting to see the recognition for all the hard work our students have put into designing and building this robot.

The spirits are high, the team is focused, and the competition only gets tougher from here as we continue climbing the bracket. We know the next match will be a hard-fought battle, but the Lakerbots are ready to give it everything they’ve got!

🚨 PLAYOFF UPDATE! 🚨

Alliance selection is complete, and we’re excited to share that the LakerBots were selected as the 1st pick of the 6th Alliance! 🤖💙

Our first playoff match was an absolute nail-biter, but we came out on top with a 385-355 victory! 🎉🔥

The team is now working at lightning speed to make repairs to our bash bar before heading back into another tough round of playoffs. The students are focused, determined, and ready to battle!

🔥 BattleCry Update! 🔥

The LakerBots are still bringing the heat—on and off the field! ☀️🤖

After six matches, we’re sitting in 10th place with a 4-2 record and loving how the day is shaping up. The rankings keep shifting, so every match matters!

It hasn’t been all smooth sailing—we had to make a quick temporary repair after Match 27 and then tackle a broken intake after Match 33. Huge shoutout to our pit crew for jumping into action and getting us back up and running in time for Match 38! 💪🔧

Now we’re taking a quick break to cool down with some well-earned milkshakes before heading back into the action. 🍦😎

It’s still sweltering hot, but the team is having a blast and ready for whatever the rest of the day brings!
