MTA Reps: Don’t forget its meeting day. We look forward to seeing you this afternoon.

When teachers are rationing copies, fighting for arts education and adequate prep time, and being offered a 2.2% raise while COLA is 4.3%… all while working in a district with some of the highest-paid administrators in the state.

Maybe it’s time to ask where the priorities really are.

Where is the remaining 2.81% going? 🤔
Let’s look at the numbers because they simply do not add up. The State of California provided a record 4.31% Super COLA increase to education funding this year. Yet, after four days of stalling at the table, the district is only offering us a 1.5% salary increase.
Our members are struggling to keep up with the soaring cost of living, while the district hoards the funding intended to support us.
True support means two things: backing us financially, and providing the dedicated time needed to support our students. Right now, the district is showing us neither.
We are heading back to the bargaining table on Thursday to demand a contract that respects the math—and respects the workers.

Day 5 of negotiations is this Thursday.
Four days of almost zero movement from the district. Four days of stalling. But we aren’t backing down.

Maybe Thursday will finally be the day the district decides to show up for its students and teachers. We’ll be there waiting. ✊💼

So, what were we making all that noise about?

On October 13, MTA and MCCE rallied and showed up at the board meeting to stand up for our students and staff.

Swipe for a few of our wildly extravagant requests. →

We know. Quite the wish list.

These are just a few of the basics we’re asking for—not our full bargaining proposals. Some are being discussed in bargaining. Others are simply what staff need to do their jobs.

Our requests are reasonable. The continued resistance is what’s hard to understand.

Community members: help us turn up the volume. Contact the school board, speak at a meeting, and stand with classified and certificated staff.

Should the basics really require a rally?

A message of gratitude to our members. 💙 Speaking up isn’t always comfortable, but advocating for our students is always worth it. We’ve got each other.

This is what I shared last month, what should I say tonight?
