We wanted to let y’all know our hearts are hurting as we share that our sweet little Mo has passed away. 💔🐓
Mo was a tiny bantam rooster with an enormous heart.
Mo loved every chicken that was ever placed in his care. He was gentle, devoted, and so incredibly special. For all these years, he quietly went about his job of watching over his girls, and he was such a loved part of the family here at Singing Grace Ranch.
Over the last couple of weeks, Mo had been inside with us as his little body began to slow down, and it was just too hot for him. We knew his time was getting close, but knowing never makes saying goodbye any easier.
And then, in the middle of all of this, God sent us Tucker.
Tucker is a beautiful five-month-old black rooster with the prettiest emerald-green shine to his feathers. He has already been through more than any little rooster should. Tucker lost one of his legs and came to us needing a safe place, a little extra help, and a whole lot of love.
The timing of his arrival felt like more than coincidence.
Tucker will never replace Mo. There could never be another Mo. ❤️
The night before Mo passed I held his little frail body in my arms kissed him many times, thanked him for his devotion and told him it was okay to let go, I introduced him to Tucker and told him he could handle the ladies with care from now on. When I woke the next morning Mo was gone. 💔
But somehow, as we were preparing to say goodbye to one very special little rooster, another rooster who needed us found his way here.
And there is one more little member of our ranch family we haven’t introduced you to yet.
Meet Tina Turner. 🐔❤️
Tina is our sweet little hen who had become Mo’s companion. As Mo grew older and slowed down, the two of them shared their quiet little retirement life together.
Now Tina has lost her little man, too.
When the time is right, we hope Tucker and Tina will become companions. Tucker needs a girl, and Tina will need a friend. Somehow, these two little souls were brought together at exactly the time they needed one another.
Maybe that is one of the hardest and most beautiful parts of rescue. Our hearts break and break hard, and somehow we keep opening them again. We grieve the ones we lose while making room for the ones who still need us.
Tonight, we say goodbye to our precious Mo. 💔
Thank you, little man, for all the years you gave us. Thank you for loving every chicken who needed you. Thank you for being exactly who you were.
You were tiny, but you left a very big mark on this ranch and on our hearts.
Rest easy, sweet Mo. You did your job well. 🐓❤️ we love you soooo much
And welcome to the family, Tucker and Tina Turner.
A chapter has ended, and another is beginning — but Mo will ALWAYS be a part of our story. ❤️
