We hope everyone made it through today's storms safely. Between the heavy rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms, it was certainly a day to keep an eye on the weather.

As the skies darkened and the wind howled outside, we're especially grateful knowing there are children in our community with a safe, comfortable SHP bed to curl up in. For some kids, a bed is more than just a place to sleep—it's a place to feel secure, a place to read a favorite book, hold a stuffed animal a little tighter, and find the courage to be brave when the storm outside feels a little scary.

Tonight, we're thankful for every volunteer, donor, and supporter who helps make that possible. Because every child deserves a place where they can feel safe, comfortable, and brave—no matter what the weather brings. 💙🛏

😊 Happy National Smile Power Day! 😊

If a smile truly has power, just look at these faces.

Every one of these smiles tells a story. A child who no longer sleeps on the floor. A child with a bed of their own. A child who knows that someone in their community cared enough to show up, build a bed, deliver it, and make sure they have a safe and comfortable place to sleep.

At Sleep in Heavenly Peace, we see the power of a smile all the time. It appears when a child climbs onto their new bed for the first time. It shows up when siblings realize they no longer have to share a mattress. It shines through when a family feels seen, supported, and cared for.

The amazing thing is that these smiles don't happen by accident. They are powered by volunteers, donors, sponsors, churches, businesses, schools, and neighbors who choose to make a difference.

Today we celebrate the flag that represents the freedoms, opportunities, and spirit of service that bring communities together.

At Sleep in Heavenly Peace, we're reminded every day that some of the best examples of patriotism happen close to home—neighbors helping neighbors, volunteers giving their time, and communities coming together to ensure that no child sleeps on the floor.

What a day for deliveries! ❤️

Five teams headed out this morning to Saratoga Springs, Troy, and Albany with beds for 22 kids, ages 3–17. That means 22 children have a safe, comfortable place to sleep tonight — and 22 more reminders of what can happen when good people show up.

From gangbuster bed-hauling to new volunteers jumping right in, from last-second changes to rooms where the beds may not fit exactly where planned — somehow, they always fit the child just right. 🛏️

Today, five teams of volunteers are heading out to 23 kids in 12 homes across Saratoga Springs, Troy, and Albany, making sure they have a safe, comfortable place to sleep tonight. ❤️

If you happen to see a pickup truck loaded with mattresses and bedding, or a team of volunteers carrying bed parts into a home, be sure to give them a beep and a wave! 👋😊

In the spirit of watching out for our community and helping families who could use a hand, we thought we'd share this helpful resource.

We started the day talking about cooling centers during this week's heatwave. Let's end it by sharing something that may help stretch a family's grocery budget this summer—restaurants offering free or discounted meals for kids. ❤️

From pancakes to burgers to tacos, there are a number of national chains that offer "Kids Eat Free" promotions on certain days. Just remember that participation, days, times, and requirements can vary by location, so it's always a good idea to call ahead before you go.

Temperatures and humidity are rising across the Capital District over the next few days, and heat safety matters — especially for those in our community without air conditioning at home.

Cooling centers are open across the region, offering safe, air-conditioned places to cool down. Many local lists also include spray parks and pools for kids who need a break from the heat.
