This is PiP's sweet little yorkie, KK, 13 years old, maybe all of 5 lbs and completely blind. KK loves treats (and food), curling up in dog beds, kissing the hands of those who carry her and sunning herself in the yard.

Dog rescuer extraordinaire and a dear friend to PiP, Darlene, is looking for a home for the lovely Katniss, pictured below. Katniss is not small or old, like our PiP residents but needs a good home just the same. Please forward her photos and story to anyone you know who may be interested in giving her the home she deserves.

A very big thank you to groomer, Lee Ann, and owner, Tammy, of LA Pet Salon & Spa in Malta, for getting our dogs winter coats shaved off so they could comfortably enjoy Spring and Summer. (Just look at how good they feel now!)

An especially huge thank you to dog rescuer and PiP's special friend, Darlene Antoine, who introduced us to the wonderful folks at LA Pet Salon & Spa and made this happen for us.

We feel blessed.

Our very little Lola felt chilly today after getting a haircut last night so we put her back in her sweater and bundled her up real well.

Wow, this sure has been a tough Winter! It has taken over 3 days for me to be able to post our most recent loss.

Our sweet, handsome, Cole, arrived at PiP just one month ago and was immediately loved by all, people and pets alike. His owner had passed away at home, leaving behind 7 dogs discovered alone with him 2 days later. All except 2 had since been rescued and carefully rehomed by a loving niece.

The last 2, Cole, 17 (blind and deaf), and his older sister, Prudence, were scheduled to arrive at Paws in Paradise subsequent to a vet visit arranged by their rescuer. Sadly, at that visit, it was decided to euthanize Prudence. Cole was found to have symptoms of kidney and/or pancreatic disease.

Shortly after arriving at PiP, the lovely Cole stopped eating and began showing other signs of severe illness. Another vet visit, change of diet, medication and visits from his rescuer, did not help him. Cole was euthanized this past Sunday. He passed away surrounded by love . . .

in our presence and the arms of the special niece who had worked so hard to save his life.

Today, all of us at PiP said our very sad and final goodbyes to little Gucci who we believe was 16 years old. Gucci spent his last day getting lots of cuddles from his dog friends and family. We'll miss you, sweet boy!
