The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce was honored to participate in the dedication of the Ed King Memorial Pavilion at McHenry Community Park, a tribute to a man whose legacy of service continues to inspire our community.
The ceremony was led by Chamber Diplomat Chair Connor Norman, who also serves as Business Development Specialist for the Garrett County Department of Business Development. Joining the celebration were Garrett County Commissioners Paul Edwards and Larry Tichnell, along with Chamber Diplomats Katie Cantrell, Stephanie Filsinger, Julie Mead, Chris Rodeheaver, and Macey Wells.
Current Deep Creek Lake Lions Club President Chris Nichols reflected on Ed King's remarkable contributions to the Club and community. A Lion since 1986, Ed served two terms as Club President, held nearly every leadership position within the organization, and played a key role in many of the Club's most impactful service projects and fundraisers. He was especially devoted to the Blind Skier and Blind Camper programs, where his enthusiasm, generosity, and trademark rendition of "Dunderback" left lasting memories for countless participants and families.
The pavilion stands as a fitting tribute to a man who exemplified kindness, service, and community spirit throughout his life. Congratulations to the Deep Creek Lake Lions Club on this meaningful project and thank you for your continued commitment to making Garrett County a better place to live, work, and visit.
