Updated information…
This donkey is located in the western part of Virginia in the United States. We are looking for a home for her where she will be with other donkeys (at least one more). She will need someone who knows and understands donkeys and is willing to spend time with her to gain her trust and finish her basic training. Her adoption fee will be $500. We don’t want to transport her too far, maybe just a few 2-3 hours) from her current location. If you are still interested please complete the Elegius Mini Equine Sanctuary’s adoption application which can be found on our website. Again, we don’t have this donkey at our sanctuary. We are just helping to find a home for her.

Anyone looking to add a donkey to your family? This sweet 4-5 year old girl needs a new home. She is not with EMES (we are full!) but we want to help her find a new home. We understand she has not had much care or handling so far in her life but she has been reported to be making good skill progress in her foster home. Let us know if you are interested and we will connect you to the person providing her a temporary home.

To get a jump start on our Mini Monday post since we will be traveling back to Virginia from The Homes for Horses Coalition Conference in Denver and might forget it’s Monday, let’s feature DaSay tonight. This little six year old mare is so very pretty and sweet. We can’t say enough good things about her. She is social, likes attention, good ground manners and she is good for the vet and farrier. She is the mother of Little Piper, the daddy of Baby Lorie.

Today’s EMES Open House Cancelled😞

Given the heavy rain we had over night and the weather forecast calling for more rain/thunderstorms today EMES will be closed for visitors Sunday Oct 11. We are so sorry. If you were planning to come to our open house on this last day and are disappointed please call or message us to schedule a tour when you are next in the area. The minis will be sorry to miss you today. They really enjoyed all the attention they received on Friday and Saturday. And if you were wanting to shop our tack sale message us and we will set a time for you to come see what we have.

Tack Sale!
As part of EMES Open House this weekend (Oct 9, 10, 11) 1-5 pm. in the big barn. Some great stuff for your horses. Pay what you will for most items. We have A Lot of blankets! Sizes 71-84. (You know you will need those this winter!) Also chaps, hay nets, cross ties, racks and baskets for storage in your barn, saddle pads, bridles…, 4661 Doe Hill Road, McDowell VA

Just making it for a Mini Monday post on Monday! 😊

Let’s feature Georgie this week. Georgie originally came to EMES as one mini in a hoarding situation of 19 minis. He was pretty feral and a stallion. He was with us for two years and became a very good little boy. Gelding helped a lot! Georgie was adopted, but following a series of unfortunate events he came back to us. Georgie is relearning basic ground manners and farm routines. It’s taking him some time to relearn these things esp for hoof care. We know we will get him back to being a well behaved little gelding but it will take some time. But isn’t he just a handsome guy?
