🎭✨ A night on stage. So many reasons to shine!

On October 8, our RGVDSA Players helped kick off Season 10 of The Player’s Studio Productions with a wonderful performance of A Night Under the Stars by Tracy Wells! 🌟

After more than four weeks of rehearsals, our Players brought their hard work, creativity, and talent to the stage and we couldn’t be prouder! Every performer had a part in making this production something special. 💙💛

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Karen Culberton for her partnership and for creating opportunities for our members to grow, express themselves, and shine through theater. And a special thank you to all the volunteers whose time, encouragement, and behind-the-scenes support helped make this production possible! 👏

💙💛 A day late, but too special to leave out! Here’s our final “Did You Know?” post for Down Syndrome Awareness Month, celebrating friendship and connection! 🫶

Throughout October, we shared facts about Down syndrome while showcasing some of our amazing RGVDSA members. We hope each post helped you learn something new, challenge misconceptions, and see the individuals behind the diagnosis.

Although the month may be over, our commitment to awareness, acceptance, and inclusion continues every day. Keep starting conversations, extending invitations, and creating opportunities for meaningful friendships. Everyone deserves to feel valued and to belong. 💛

Down syndrome occurs in people of every race, ethnicity, culture, and economic background.

It is part of the natural diversity of people in communities all around the world. 💙

While every person with Down syndrome shares the presence of an extra copy of chromosome 21, each individual is completely unique — with their own personality, family, culture, traditions, interests, talents, and dreams. ✨

Our differences are part of what make our communities stronger, richer, and more beautiful.

💙💛 DID YOU KNOW? — OCTOBER 29TH 💛💙

We may have missed a day yesterday… but we’re not letting that stop us! 😅💙💛 We’re catching up and continuing our Down Syndrome Awareness Month “Did You Know?” series!

World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated every year on March 21st — 3/21 — for a very special reason.

The date represents the three copies of chromosome 21 that are characteristic of Trisomy 21, the most common form of Down syndrome. 💙💛

It’s more than just a date on the calendar. World Down Syndrome Day is an opportunity to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome, raise awareness, promote inclusion, and advocate for a world where every person is valued and included.

Today, we’re proud to feature another sweet RGVDSA member from right here in the Rio Grande Valley. ✨

3/21 reminds us of the chromosome. Our community reminds us of the person.
