Back in February, I had the opportunity to head down to Mississippi for Mike Jones’ Catch, Clean, Cook Writers Camp—and it was one heck of a trip.

I got to spend time with some great people, including Brad Wiegmann, who was kind enough to feature Operation Freedom Outdoors on his podcast. That meant a lot, getting to share what we’re building and the mission behind it.

One of the highlights for me was having a husband-and-wife veteran team, Steven and Katie Quick, in the boat for the week on Lake Washington. The lake absolutely showed out, and those two looked like seasoned pros out there—putting Mississippi slabs in the boat like they’d been doing it their whole lives.

OFO is planning another trip to Oklahoma Selfbow Society - OJAM March 18-21. We will provide meals! We will be camping, so bring your preferred camping equipment. For those interested, you can stay in a near by hotel at your expense. The event will take place at Lake Carl Blackwell in Stillwater - contact board member Ace Eastwood at 918-351-3015 to register or if you have questions.

This event is open to veterans and first responders. Participants may bring their family to enjoy the camping experience.
