🚶♂️ A walk can be more than a walk. Just ask David.
When David Slagan moved to Scranton in 2020, serious health challenges left him struggling to walk even short distances. From looking out his hospital window at people walking through Nay Aug Park and promising himself he’d join them again, to slowly rebuilding his strength one step at a time, David’s journey back to walking has been remarkable.
Today, he rarely lets a day go by without a walk.
Along the way, David found the Connell Park Walking Club, and with it, new trails, new friendships and new ways to give back to his community. He’s even become a familiar volunteer at Valley In Motion events.
And recently, there was another reason to celebrate: David won a national Walk with a Doc raffle and was recognized by his friends at the Walking Club! 🎉
David’s story captures so much of why we do what we do. We want to create opportunities for people to move, connect with their community, discover the places around them and build relationships along the way.
Sometimes a walk gets you from one place to another. Sometimes it opens an entirely new chapter.
