The Mashpee Women's Club is a social and charitable organization located in Mashpee, Massachusetts.

As a not-for-profit organization, the Mashpee Women's Club supports various charitable projects, and each one holds special importance to us. We welcome women from all Cape Cod towns as well as those from the other side of the bridge. We provide an opportunity for women to gather and enjoy good company, good dining, a host of activities, and to add to and contribute to the life of our communities.

The Mashpee Women's Club October luncheon was held on Tuesday, October 20th at The Club at New Seabury. Many of our members had fun dressing in costume in keeping of the Halloween season.

This month's Getting to Know You speaker was Becca Norton, Director of Programs and Operations for Cape Wellness Collaborative. She spoke about Cape Wellness Collaborative's mission to help residents of Cape Cod and the Islands who are facing cancer feel better through integrative therapies, nourishing meals, and emotional support services.

Our featured program presenter, Steven Macek, AKA Steven the Medium spoke about how he learned he was a medium and what it means for him to do readings. While he was talking he did some readings which touched a few of our members with some information from beyond. His program was so well received, we hope to have a special event featuring Steven and his readings. Join us in November for our annual Holiday Boutique featuring 15 local vendors on Tuesday, November 17th. This event is always a sell-out.

The Mashpee Women’s Club hosted a special event at the Quashnet Country Club in Mashpee for 70 members and guests. After a lovely brunch, the audience was entertained by Walter “Robby” Robinson with stories about his journalistic career including his time at the Boston Globe as editor of the Spotlight team.

The team was featured in the movie “ Spotlight” about this Pulitzer prize winning group. The movie won an Academy award for best picture and best original screenplay. Walter Robison was played by Michael Keaton in the movie.

The Membership and Hospitality committees hosted a New Member coffee on Friday, October 9 at Terry Cordo's home. Welcome to MWC: Janet Freston, Ande Lockwood, Barbara Clark, Susie Morrison, Nancy Sullivan, Sharon Piere, Janice Welter and Christine Lazorchak. Many thanks to Joan Ford and Bonnie Strunin, Membership Co-Chairs and Terry Cordo and Diane Tierney, Hospitality Co-Chairs for organizing this welcoming event.

Another New Member Coffee has been scheduled for Thursday, November 5th. New members should watch for an invitation.

The Mashpee Women's Club "Ladies Who Bowl" activity group enjoyed a fun time bowling at The Lanes, Mashpee Commons, on Tuesday, October 6th. Bowling, pizza and a lot of fun. Join us next month on the first Tuesday, November 3rd. Watch our page under events.

The Mashpee Women's Club Lunch Bunch enjoyed a delicious lunch at Cooke's Seafood in Mashpee last Thursday, October 1st.

The Mashpee Women's' Club September luncheon event featured one of our members, Yvette Shakespeare. Yvette, an award winning florist, shared her knowledge on how to make supermarket flowers look like a professional arrangement. She created three stunning arrangements which were raffled off along side the beautiful centerpieces of potted mums. The mums were donated by Mahoney's of Falmouth. This month's luncheon was enjoyed with a beautiful view of Nantucket Sound, the sound of waves, a delicious salad buffet and ice cream sundaes in the Popponesset Inn's tent.

September's getting-to-know-you speaker was Ruth Provost of the Cape Cod Boys and Girls Club.

We have two events in October. Our monthly luncheon, and a special event. Check out our events page on Facebook and join us on October 14 at The Quashnet Valley Grill for a brunch with Walter "Robby" Robinson of the Boston Globe Spotlight team.

And on October 20th we will host Steven the Medium at 11:30 for lunch at New The Club at New Seabury. Join us as we celebrate Halloween and come in costume. Everyone who wears a costume will be given a free raffle ticket.

The Mashpee Women's Club has a very full schedule of programs from now through August of 2027. We are working at finding an interesting program for May to complete our year.

The August luncheon, featuring Sheryl Faye as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, was held on Tuesday, August 18th at New The Club at New Seabury. Sheryl captivated the audience as she portrayed RGB as a young teen, aspiring lawyer, wife and mother and Supreme Court justice.

This month's Getting To Know You speaker was Amie of Amie's Bakery and Academie in Osterville. Check out her website to learn more about Amie's specialties and classes.

We thanked and said goodbye to departing board members who served for a long time. These women spent many years volunteering for positions on our board that help keep this organization strong and successful.

Barbara Marchio, President, 2024-2026. Barbara will serve as Presidential Advisor for the next two years.

Kathryn Schwartz, Treasurer. Kathryn served as treasurer for six years.

Carolyn Holmes. Carolyn served 13 years on the board as Book Club committee chair, Program Chair, Centerpieces, Fashion Show chair. She will continue to help with centerpieces and the Fashion Show.

This month’s greeters were Terry Cordo, Sharon Avis, Diane Tierney, Susan Creed and Joan Ford.

Raffle sales volunteers were Julie Kennedy, Kathy Rippy, Linda Kaverud and Deb Longchamps.

Join us in September in the Poppy Tent for a demonstration on how to arrange supermarket flowers look like a professional arrangement featuring MWC member, Yvette Shakespeare.
