"Couples that cook together, stay together."

The saying was emblazoned on aprons that 8 military couples wore as part of a friendly cooking competition at KAM Appliances in Hyannis, last night.

It was such a fun evening that allowed couples to strengthen their relationship while forging friendships with others in the community. A big thanks to KAM Appliances Executive Chef Linda Davey and Marketing Manager Michelle Meagher for making the cook-off (and meal) so memorable.

And a special thanks to Sheela and Jay Soares for their help in organizing last night's event.

Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or just looking for an excuse to spend a day riding on Cape Cod, the 2026 Second Summer Cycle has a route for you.

Choose from 15, 34, 60, or 101 miles and enjoy a scenic ride through some of the Cape's most beautiful towns, all while supporting veterans, service members, and military families.

The ride begins and ends at Smugglers Beach in South Yarmouth, where riders can celebrate with food trucks, local beer, live music, and a great community atmosphere.

Every mile ridden helps support Heroes in Transition programs that strengthen relationships, build community, and provide a pathway to healing for those who have served.

"So many people in this room have not only stepped up for us, but they are always there no matter what the ask is," our Executive Director Silene Gordon said last night, when the American Culinary Federation Of Cape Cod came together to prepare an incredibly delicious seven-course meal as part of their inaugural Anthony Bourdain Punk Rock Wine Dinner at the Sacconnesset Golf Club.

They used the dinner as an opportunity to raise funds to support our programs to assist service members, veterans, and military families in our region.

"You're a community. You are a real community," Silene said. "All of you lift one another up. And we at Heroes try to do that as well so I think that's one of the things that we really have in common and why these partnerships work so well."

We're grateful to all at the Culinary Federation for embodying the best of our community and for all you do for Heroes In Transition and those we serve!

Every summer, thousands of runners make their way to Cape Cod for one of the most iconic road races in the country.

This year, you can be part of it with Team HIT!

On August 16, 2026, we'll once again take on the Falmouth Road Race, seven unforgettable miles along the Cape Cod coastline, all while raising critical funds for veterans, service members, and military families.

We have a limited number of charity bibs available, and once they're gone, they're gone.

Today, we pause to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
We honor their courage, their selflessness, and the lives they gave in defense of the freedoms we enjoy every day. We also hold close the families who carry their memory forward and whose sacrifice continues long after the battle has ended.

This Memorial Day, we remember those who never made it home and give thanks for their service, their sacrifice, and their legacy.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Yesterday morning, we joined the hundreds of volunteers who took time placing flags at the more than 80,000 graves at Massachusetts National Cemetery.

It's a tradition started in 2011 by the late Paul Monti, a Gold Star Father who lost his son, Army Sergeant First Class Jared C. Monti, in June 2006 after he was killed in action in Afghanistan. His family has lovingly carried on the tradition since Paul's passing in 2022.

Moments like yesterday's are a reminder of the heroism of soldiers like Jared Monti who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

With Memorial Day tomorrow, we hope you will join us in taking time to pause, reflect, and express our gratitude to all who have gave their life for our freedoms.

It's a solemn day for Heroes In Transition as our beginnings were rooted in the sacrifice that our own Marine Captain Eric A. Jones made while serving in Afghanistan in October 2009.

Veterans and current service members are invited to stop by in Mashpee on Friday, May 22 from 8:00 to 10:30 AM for a complimentary beverage of your choice.

Stay for a bit, connect with others, or grab your drink to go. However you join us, we’d love to see you there and say thank you.

⚽️🏟️ With the World Cup around the corner, we were able to treat 9 local military families (29 people total) to an exciting New England Revolution win over Minnesota United FC this weekend.

Making it even more special — it was a Salute to Heroes Night with the Revolution paying tribute to those who have served and who are currently serving in our military.

A special thanks to Sheela and Jay Soares for facilitating our first-ever HIT outing to see the Revolution in action.

We ended the week on a high note, coming together today as a community for the 8th Annual Top Shot Invitational Golf Tournament at Bass River Golf Course.

We are incredibly grateful to all who played, sponsored, donated, and volunteered for the tournament which helps raise funds to strengthen our programs to assist local service members, veterans, and military families.

An extra special thanks go out to Top Shot Invitational organizers that included CGW Shop, Coxswain Media, and Yarmouth Golf. Every year, they spend countless hours and energy to turn this into an event that shows exactly what makes our community so special.
