Attend this free event on Saturday, August 29th at 1:00 PM for an opportunity to learn about labor history and to win a scholarship sponsored by the Southern Illinois Central Labor Council.

All are welcome to attend FREE of charge.
SICLC will award $2000 in scholarships to affiliated apprentices or college students who register prior to 1:00PM, and are present when randomly selected.
Recipients may verify qualifications at a later date.
Come out, learn some labor history, and enjoy the Union Hall of Honor event.

On Tuesday, August 11th AFSCME Local 1048 convened a Nominations Meeting for Delegates to the Bargaining Committee (Formally, the State Conference Board) at 6:05 PM.

The Nominees for the Three RC62 / RC63 bargaining unit Spots are:

Tyler Askins, DHS
Laine Wheeler, DCFS
Adam Anderson Gray, DCFS
Brittney Blackwell, DHS
Danielle Robinson, DHS
Blake Hutchinson, DoIT
Tyeast Harris, DCFS

The Nominee for the One Spot for all other bargaining units is;

Bennett Hughes, DNR

There will be an election for the contested delegate spots for RC 62 / RC63 on 08/25/2026 at 6:30 PM at the Laborers 773 Hall; 5102 Ed Smith Wy, Marion, IL 62959

Bennett Hughes is was the only candidate for the all other bargaining units spot, and is hereby elected to the bargaining committee for AFSCME Local 1048.

John Day, as President of AFSCME Local 1048 will serve as an automatic delegate.
