Calling all businesses, school groups or teams, and organizations! It’s that time!!! 🎃

HMRA and the Marion Chamber are bringing back the scarecrows to our commercial historic district, but we cannot do it alone.

We are asking all of our business owners, civic organizations, and schools to participate this year in decorating our light poles with a scarecrow. It could be cute, scary, traditional, or themed for your business! It is a low cost, highly visible way to advertise your business or school for the month of October. The scarecrows are to be life-sized (at least the height of a broom stick).

Again this year, we’re upping the stakes and making it a competition! We will have a panel of judges to choose the best scarecrow based on 3 categories - creativity, construction, and originality. The winner will receive a ribbon and bragging rights! Are you hooked yet? Here is the info you need to know to participate.

● Timeline:

o September 11: Notify HMRA or the Marion Chamber of your intention to participate by this date via email. Participation is not required, but encouraged! You will need to pick up a post from the Marion Chamber office to build/hang your scarecrow. (Tues-Thurs 10 AM-4 PM)
o September 21-25: Turn in your scarecrow to the Marion Chamber office to ensure enough time for it to be hung. (Tues-Thurs, 10am-4pm)
o October 2- November 2: Scarecrows will be in place. Every effort will be made to hang your scarecrow as close as possible to your business.
o October 30: Winner will be announced on Halloween via social media!

We cannot wait to see your spooktacular submissions this year! So let us know…. come get your pole and get your creative juices flowing!!!! 👻

Thank you for supporting local ❤️

Costs are up. Customers are spending more carefully. Payroll is expensive. Supplies are expensive. Rent is expensive. And the businesses that make your town actually feel like your town are feeling all of it.

So if you love having the coffee shop, the boutique, the bakery, the bookstore, the restaurant, the photographer, the florist then make an effort to use them.

We vote for the kind of town we want by the way we spend our money in it.

‼️ New Vendor Alert ‼️

Thank you, Main Street! Saturday marked the first Marion appearance for A&A, and you welcomed her with open arms, causing her to sell out within the first two hours!

But, never fear! She will be back, restocked and ready for you again this Saturday from 10-1.

Just a reminder that this week’s market will be the second of four consecutive Saturdays for us at the Main Street Commons, thanks to the Marion County 250’s Patriot Days celebration.

Want to join the fun? Message us for details on how you, too, can be a vendor!
