The Buckeye Council is proud to showcase the excitement and impact of its Heart of Ohio Law Enforcement Explorer Competition. This year 20 Law Enforcement Exploring teams of young men and women from all over Ohio ages 14-20 competed. Special thank you to Sgt. Adam Willauer from the Delaware City Police Department who has led the event for over 20 years and the Willoughby Police Department for hosting this year’s competition. The Exploring competition is meant to be demanding, physically and mentally for Explorers. Events test strengths and limitations of intelligence, personality, demeanor, and physical abilities, as well as dedication and conviction to the Explorer Program. Explorers test their skills in real-life situations including Traffic Stops and Crisis Intervention, to name a few. Obstacle courses test physical abilities and teamwork.
Congratulations to the Explorers from Medina Sheriff’s Department for placing 1st in the 2026 competition.
Recent news coverage captured the energy of the event, with an interview with Sgt Adam Willauer. Link is below.
