Last night teens at the Rec had a blast getting into the Halloween spirit by mixing up their own unique and creative potions!

A special thank-you to United Way of North Central Ohio for providing grant funding to the Rec Center which helped purchase supplies for this program. We’re grateful for the continued support that helps make fun and engaging experiences like this possible for the youth!

Teen Spotlight!

Meet Jonathan, a 9th grader who has been part of the YMCA Rec Center since before we officially opened. He was one of the many teens who helped set up the Rec Center as we prepared to open.

Jonathan enjoys gaming on the computers, learning about new experiments, and spending time with friends. Outside the Rec, he loves music, playing outdoors, basketball, soccer, and anime-including Heaven’s Lost Property (Sora no Otoshimono) and The Android of Clockwork. His favorite subjects are science and math, and his favorite food is salmon!

Jonathan keeps coming back for the fun activities, positive atmosphere, and the safe space where his ideas are heard. He’d love to see more events, including Minecraft tournaments!

Congratulations Jonathan!

Potion Making at the Rec!

Come check out the Rec on October 8th from 5:00–6:00 PM and get into the spooky spirit! 🎃

We’ll be creating all kinds of silly, spooky, and scary potions, including Co**se Breath, Vampire Blood, Love Potions, and plenty of other creepy combinations.

This program is FREE!

We encourage teens to register ahead of time, so we know how many supplies to have on hand. Parents/guardians can register their child at the YMCA or Rec Center or online at https://www.marionymca.org/register/

Come ready to mix, create, and have some spooky fun!
