The second Rec&Collect fundraiser for the Marion Family YMCA Rec Center is coming up, and this one is going to be BIGGER than ever!

Rec & Collect Expo: Trick or Trade

Date: October 17th
Time: 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
Location: Marion Family YMCA (645 Barks Road East, Marion OH)
Price: Free for kids and teens / Adults $2.00

We loved hosting the first Rec&Collect event at the Rec Center, but we’ve outgrown the space. Moving this year’s event to the Marion Family YMCA means we can welcome even more vendors, community partners, activities, and fun all while raising money to support the Rec Center and youth throughout Marion County.

🛍️ 40+ vendors including games, cards, comics, collectibles, and hand made crafts
👻 Cosplay Contest- Age Divisions: 1–9 | 10–17 | 18+

Important Calendar Reminder:

Starting next week, the Rec Center will be closed on Mondays and Fridays. We will be open Tuesdays-Thursdays from 2:30-7:00 PM until further notice.

We will also be closed Thursday, September 10th for the Popcorn Festival.

Teens, have you ever wondered what it’s like to make drinks like a barista? Now’s your chance!

Join us for our next Career Speaker Series at the Rec Center on Tuesday, September 22, from 5:00–6:00 PM!

Remnant baristas Abby & Miriam will share how the Remnant got started and teach you how to make your very own coffee drink just like the pros!

You’ll get to:

Choose from a variety of flavors
Find the perfect balance of coffee and cream
Learn how to make your very own sweet cream
Create and enjoy your own custom coffee drink!

This program was a big hit in January, and we expect spots to fill up quickly!

Important Information for the School Year!

School Year Hours Begin This Week

Starting this week, the Rec Center will transition to School Year Hours:

Tuesday–Friday: 2:30–7:00 PM

Rec Center Closed Tuesday, August 18

The Rec Center will be closed tomorrow, August 18. Our staff will be at Grant Middle School and Harding High School for open houses to share information, assist with registrations, and answer questions.

Bus Transportation & Food Service Begin Wednesday, August 19

Starting Wednesday, August 19, Marion City Schools will provide transportation to the Rec Center from:

Harding High School — Bus #2
Grant Middle School — Bus #40

Please confirm with the schools if your child is on the list to ride the bus to the Rec after school.

Important: Your child must have a completed YMCA Guest/Participant Form signed by a legal guardian to attend the Rec Center.

Completed at the Marion Family YMCA
Completed at the Rec Center

Snack & Hot Dinner

Thanks to Marion City Schools, we will begin serving free snack and hot dinner again on Wednesday, August 19 to all participants.

Snack: 4:00–4:30 PM
Dinner: 5:00–5:30 PM

September Schedule Changes

Starting September 1, the Rec Center will be closed on Mondays and Fridays.

Our new schedule will be:

Tuesday–Thursday: 2:30–7:00 PM

As participation and usage increase throughout the school year, we will look at expanding the number of days we are open.

We are looking forward to another great year and to seeing all of our new and returning faces!

A BIG shout out to Ny'Asian the Rec Center's Teen of the Month for August!

Ny’Asian always has a smile on her face, treats her peers and staff with respect, and is never afraid to try new things. Her positive attitude and willingness to step outside her comfort zone make her a great role model for other youth.

Last week, Inspire Marion held its annual Corporate Dodgeball Tournament Fundraiser, this year benefiting the Rec Center, and raising more than $5,000 to support youth and the program!

A huge thank you to Inspire Marion and all of the participating teams and volunteers for making it such a fun, successful, and memorable night.

The support this community continues to show for the Rec Center has been outstanding, and we are truly grateful. Every contribution helps provide young people with a safe place to connect with peers, build relationships, participate in programs, and access resources.

Thank you, Inspire Marion, and thank you to everyone who came out and particpated!
