August’s America 250 theme, “Marion Goes to the Fair,” brings to mind the sights, traditions and community spirit of the County Fair—and the many ways local philanthropy helps make those experiences possible. At Marion Community Foundation, one of those is the We Remember Al Fund, which honors the memory of a pony named Al and supports future horse enthusiasts via the Dusty Tails 4-H Club. Since 2005, the fund, created by Tarina Rose and Tim Greenleaf, helps ensure that traditions of 4-H and the County Fair continue for generations to come.

We are saddened by the passing of music superstar Dolly Parton, yet proud to be a part of her legacy through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. In partnership with the Marion Public Library, literally hundreds of our donors have been supporting early literacy since 2020 and made Marion County one of the top participants, with 3 out of 4 eligible children enrolled. The Imagination Library provides a free book once a month to children from birth to age 5. We are honored to carry Dolly's dreams for children into the future.

Join us today, on National Nonprofit Day, in recognizing the nonprofits making a difference in Marion. We're celebrating the organizations, staff members, board members, volunteers, and supporters who help improve the well-being of the Marion community.
