PUBLIC NOTICE ~ ISAIAS
The City of Marion, in partnership with the Perry County Commission, encourages all residents to remain weather-aware and take the necessary precautions as Isaias approaches our area. The National Weather Center warns of dangerous winds, heavy rainfall, flooding, and possible tornados and has currently categorized the storm as a hurricane projected to impact the area during the late hours of Friday evening.
For residents who need a safe place to shelter, the following locations will be available beginning Friday at 12:00 noon and are projected to remain open through Sunday, unless conditions warrant a change:
Marion: 202 Hwy. 14 East ~behind the Old National Guard Armory
Newbern: 4371 Reynolds Chapel Rd./County Rd. 48 ~behind the Newbern Volunteer Fire Station
District 3~East Perry: Senior Center, 5689 County Rd. 64
District 4: Pernell Shelter, 3771 Pernell Rd., Marion, AL 36756
District 5 ~Uniontown: 469 West Street — behind the Old Uniontown Elementary/Middle School
Please be advised that the addresses provided may not correspond precisely with locations recognized by GPS or navigation software.
SHELTER SAFETY REMINDERS: Smoking and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited inside all shelters. In consideration of individuals with allergies, medical sensitivities, or a fear of animals, pets will not be permitted inside the shelters.
CITY HALL CLOSURE NOTICE
Due to anticipated inclement weather, Marion City Hall will close at 12:00 noon today, Friday, October 9, 2026.
In observance of the Columbus Day Holiday, City Hall will remain closed Monday and will reopen for regular business on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
We encourage everyone to prepare early, avoid unnecessary travel during severe conditions, remain attentive to official weather updates, and check on elderly or vulnerable family members, pets, and neighbors.
