A huge thank you to a generous Cass County 4-H family who graciously donated these pigs to the Marcellus FFA chapter. Because of their generosity, our students had the opportunity to farrow the sows, care for the piglets from birth, and raise them from start to finish. This project has given our members invaluable hands-on experience in animal husbandry, responsibility, and teamwork.

Now it's time to celebrate their hard work!

We invite everyone to attend the Cass County Large Animal Auction and support our Marcellus FFA members by bidding on one of these hogs. Every bid is an investment in these students and the future of agriculture. Your support helps provide meaningful learning experiences and allows our members to continue growing through projects like this.

Today was a milestone moment for our program — we released 94 salmon into the Paw Paw River!
What makes this even more special is that these salmon started their journey with us as eggs. Over the past several months, our students helped care for them weekly, learning firsthand about the salmon life cycle, water quality, conservation, and the responsibility that comes with raising living organisms.
This experience reached 40 second grade students and 43 high school students, giving them an unforgettable opportunity to connect science, stewardship, and hands-on learning in a meaningful way. Watching students grow alongside the fish — from tiny eggs to healthy salmon ready for release — has been incredible to witness.
The learning didn’t stop there. Our high school students took the experience even further by building their own fishing poles and then using them out on the water. Bringing together environmental education, craftsmanship, outdoor recreation, and mentorship across grade levels created something truly unique for our students.
This has been a huge dream for our program, and seeing it become a reality today was incredibly rewarding. Opportunities like this give students experiences they will remember for years to come — not just lessons from a textbook, but real-world connections that inspire curiosity, confidence, and appreciation for the outdoors.
We are so proud of every student who helped make this possible and grateful to everyone who supported this journey from egg to release day. What an amazing day on the river!
