Hi 👋 It’s Elaine from Sustainable and I’m over at the Transfer Station. The community is doing a great job keeping everything orderly and organized by putting bins in good shape off to the side. We now have the *good* problem of many usable bins ready for transport to Peabody. If you have a pick up truck, can you please spare an hour to drive a bunch? We will meet you to help load the bins and people will wait on the other side to offload. Please PM or email [email protected] to help!

Not only are you helping the planet but also saving the Town money because we are paying to dispose of these by the ton. Thank you for getting involved!

Volunteers are sought every day to help re-home the discarded trash bins at the Transfer Station. Eventually the supply will trickle out but for now the bins are arriving continually. What’s needed? 1. Help sorting the bins in good shape at the Transfer Station. Simply identify and put aside where indicated. 2. Pick up truck owners to transport the good bins to Peabody.

We are close to saving 500 bins between this effort and the folks who are listing them on the Marblehead MA Trash Recycling Barrel Swap Facebook group and Buy Nothing Marblehead. Be Part of a Community Success Story! ♻️

Thanks to an incredible grassroots effort, more than 200 garbage and recycling bins have already found new homes! Please help keep this going:

Volunteers will help load and transport usable bins to a pickup site at St. John the Baptist School in Peabody, where residents who can use them will give them a second life.

Whether you can stay for 15 minutes or the full two hours, your help will make a real difference.

Sustainable Marblehead has organized a private group tour of the Peabody Essex Museum’s exhibit, Knowing Nature: Stories of the Boreal Forest, on June 15 from 10:30 - 11:30am. We are so excited that the tour will be given by Janey Winchell, the Sarah Fraser Robbins Director, Dotty Brown Art & Nature Center Curator of Natural History, and Coordinating curator of Knowing Nature: Stories of the Boreal Forest.
Please purchase your ticket on Sustainable Marblehead’s website, which includes the tour plus admission to the museum for the entire day.
