Our Troop 828 Scouts recently had the privilege of meeting with Charlie Halford, Manteca City Councilmember who took time out of his schedule to speak with them about the constitutional rights and obligations of a U.S. citizen.

The session was engaging, interactive, and incredibly informative. Our Scouts leaned in with curiosity, asked thoughtful questions, and explored real-life case examples to better understand how civic responsibilities shape our nation. It was inspiring to see them dig deeper and connect their Scouting journey with their role as informed and responsible citizens.

As a Scouting unit, our role goes beyond meetings and campouts. We strive to expose our Scouts to meaningful learning opportunities by inviting experts and creating experiences where they can learn, lead, and serve. Conversations like these help shape confident, knowledgeable young leaders who understand both their freedoms and their responsibilities.

🌱 Scouts in Action at the Manteca Community Garden! 🌱

This past Sunday, our Troop 828 Scouts met at the Manteca Community Garden in Downtown Manteca to dive into an important environmental issue of water contamination and brainstorm practical, real-world solutions. It was inspiring to watch these young minds think critically, collaborate, and lead with purpose.

A huge thank you to Rajnish Khanna (Executive Director, Urban Green Project) for mentoring our Scouts and facilitating such a thoughtful and engaging conversation. Your guidance truly helped spark curiosity and leadership in our future changemakers.

Beyond discussion, under the supervision of Sarah Miller (President, Urban Green Project) Scouts rolled up their sleeves—sorting seeds and clearing weeds from garden beds to get everything ready for spring sowing 🌼🌿. Service with impact!

We’re also grateful to Urban Green Project for maintaining this beautiful community garden and creating opportunities for everyone to learn, serve, and connect. If you’re looking to rent a serene outdoor space for a small gathering, yoga class, or community activity, be sure to reach out to them.

Troop 828 (Boys) and Troop 2828 (Girls) are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of all our Scouts at this Court of Honor, recognizing those who worked diligently toward their rank advancements and merit badges. Your hard work, commitment, and perseverance truly reflect the values of Scouting and the spirit of service and leadership.

A heartfelt thank you to Rotary Club Of Manteca members Charlie Halford, Manteca City Councilmember and Ian Osborn (Manteca PD) for gracing our Court of Honor with your presence and for your continued support of our Scouts and the Scouting program. Your encouragement means a great deal to our youth and families.

As our troops continue to grow, we remain committed to ensur every Scout and family has a meaningful, rewarding experience while gaining essential life and leadership skills.

A huge thank you to all the Scouts, parents and adult leaders who showed up early today at East Union Cemetary to take part in the wreaths clean-up. This was no small task — our Scouts collected hundreds of flags, poles, and wreaths, and then tackled the most tedious part of all: removing the metal frames from each of the 500 wreaths.

The scouts carefully organized all 500 flags back into the cabinet, separated the wreaths from the wire frames and bows, and left the entire area spotless. The attention to detail, teamwork, and respect shown for our veterans’ resting place was truly inspiring.

This was our first service project of the year, and what a powerful way to start — with meaningful service, discipline, and heart.

Great job, Scouts. You did your community and our veterans proud. 👏🇺🇸

We are so proud of our 85 scouts who participated in the food collection this year and collected close to 3,000 pounds of food for the families in need this holiday season. Donations were given to Ray of Hope Children's Crisis and Resource Services SJC and Second Harvest of the Greater Valley to support families in our community. 💛

Scouts learned what real community service and impact of teamwork look like. 💚

Thank you to every Scout who showed up with a smile, every parent who supported, and every leader who guided.
This is what makes our Scouting family so strong! 💪🥫✨

Cub Scout Pack 828, BSA Troop 828 - Manteca, CA (Boys) and Troop 2828 (Girls), chartered by Rotary Club Of Manteca, will be joining efforts on November 15 to collect food for those in need 🐾⚜️💚

We have routes planned in neighborhoods of Manteca, Lathrop, and River Islands to collect food donations. If you would like to donate, please leave a comment and we will reach out to you.

All items collected will be donated to Ray of Hope Children Services and Second Harvest of the Greater Valley 🥫🍜🫘✨️
