Produce is grown harvested and donated to local Food Pantries, Soup Kitchens and Special Needs Homes in the Manhattan Illinois area. GROW fruits and vegetables, the staples of healthy eating…and grow friendships in the process
GIVE produce to Manhattan community neighbors in need and sell excess harvest at a farm stand;
HELP supplement food supplies at local food pantries and
TEACH others how to grow and preserve their own produce that can be enjoyed year round.

Monday, June 15 from 2pm-5pm will be a Field Day where weeding and critter maintenance is planned.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
Dress for the weather and bring sunblock, insect repellant, water, gloves and sturdy shoes you won't mind getting dirty.
We'll supply the weeds, bugs and shade to rest in.

Hi Folks.
Here's the revised schedule for seed potato cutting and planting:

Cutting 350 lbs of Seed Potatoes:
Tuesday, April 28th at 1pm
Cutting entails slicing larger potatoes into smaller slices and placing the pieces on a tarp so they can dry and skin over.

Seed Potato Planting:
Friday, May 1st at 9am
Planting entails two people sitting on a potato planter. One person hand-feeds fertilizer into the potato trench while the other person hand-feeds

Hi folks
We are a GO for our popcorn harvest beginning tomorrow at 10am. (Saturday, November 8th.)
Watch the weather and dress accordingly. You will be outdoors for the majority of the time.
Snapping and husking ears is rough on the hands so do not forget to bring sturdy gloves to avoid blisters.
If you want to arrive a bit earlier to get a jump on things, your host Bill will be around to direct you to the field.
Our goal is to be finished no later than 3pm because that's when rain will be moving in.

Hello all
We have scheduled our annual Popcorn Harvest for
Saturday, November 8th beginning at 10am.
Rain Day if needed is November 15th (same time)

Day-of Work activities are:
Snapping ears from stalks and Husking
Operating the corn sheller
Gleaning kernels off the cobs which the corn sheller missed
Filling containers with popcorn kernels
Spreading corn cobs in field
If any of these tasks are up your alley, please join us!
