Through a generous grant from 9/11 Day in partnership with AmeriCorps, Tuesday’s Promise brought our community together at Yankee Stadium for a meaningful day of service honoring 9/11 first responders and their families who continue to navigate the lasting impacts of 9/11.

Volunteers assembled care kits filled with items like socks, hand sanitizer, activity books, and snacks to provide comfort, gratitude, and support.

A heartfelt thank-you to the New York Yankees for hosting us, to the Salesforce employees who joined us, to Tradeweb for donating items included in the kits, and to all our volunteers who generously gave their time. We are also deeply grateful to 9/11 Day and AmeriCorps for the grant that made this day of service possible.

We look forward to sharing these kits with the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation and distributing them at the Annual 9/11 Naming Ceremony on September 12, 2026, at the 9/11 Responders Remembered Park, presented by the FealGood Foundation Outreach And Education Program.

Meet Brooke, who is running the 2026 BMW Berlin Marathon for Tuesday’s Promise

Brooke's connection to Tuesday's Promise is deeply personal. After 9/11, her father was deployed to Afghanistan, an experience that placed lasting strain on her family. Looking back, Brooke often reflects on how meaningful a community like Tuesday's Promise would have been during those years. Her family's life felt divided into two chapters, before 9/11 and after, and she understands firsthand the importance of having support from people who truly understand the challenges military families face.

In January 2024, Brooke lost her father, Matthew Harrah, after years of watching him struggle with PTSD following his service in Operation Enduring Freedom. In the wake of that loss, she committed herself to healing, prioritizing her mental health, and finding ways to honor his legacy. Through her marathon journey, Brooke hopes to help others who may feel alone in their grief and remind them that support and community can make all the difference.

Running the Berlin Marathon represents just how far Brooke has come. Over the past two years, she has taken control of her health and lost 90 pounds, transforming both physically and mentally. What once felt impossible has become a source of strength and confidence. She is running in honor of her father, for her fiancé Richie, and for her sons, Ryder and Emmett, showing them that perseverance can carry you through even the most difficult seasons of life.

When Brooke crosses the finish line in Berlin, she will be thinking about the journey that brought her there and the person she has become along the way. For her, this race is about more than completing a marathon. It is a testament to resilience, healing, and the belief that growth is possible even after life's hardest challenges.

The August Mentor of the Month is Mark D.!

When his sons were grown, Mark found himself looking for a new way to give back. A conversation with a good friend (and current mentor), Brian Kanaley, introduced him to mentoring through Tuesday's Promise. Given that he had lost family members and friends on 9/11, it felt like the right fit. After waiting for a match, he was paired with Michael in Illinois in what he calls perfect timing.

Since then, the relationship has grown far beyond scheduled calls. Mark says it's the unplanned moments that mean the most, like when Michael calls just to share good news or talk through something on his mind. Those calls are a sign that the relationship matters to Michael too, and that the time invested has paid off. Mark is also grateful for the bond he's built with Michael's mother and sister along the way.

His advice for new mentors: consistency is everything. Every call, every visit, every small point of contact adds up. Trust and relationships take time to build, but showing up reliably, even when life gets in the way and things need to be rescheduled, is what makes the connection grow.

25 years of impact. 25 years of honoring legacies.

Join Tuesday’s Promise on Thursday, September 24 as we celebrate A Promising Evening: 25th Anniversary Commemorative Gala at The Yacht Club at Starrett Lehigh in New York City.

For 25 years, Tuesday’s Promise has championed growth and healing for families affected by 9/11 and military loss. This special evening will celebrate the people, stories, and community that have made this work possible and look ahead to the future we’re building together.

Cocktails: 6 PM
Dinner & Program: 7 PM

The evening will honor John Feal, Founder & President of the FealGood Foundation, and Kevin Bittenbender, Sergeant Major (Ret.), U.S. Army and Director of Military Affairs at Pocono Raceway, and founding Board Director Roger V. Coleman receiving the Legacy Award. Guests will be treated to a performance by the NYPD Jazz Band.

We’re looking forward to gathering with our community for an unforgettable evening celebrating 25 years of Tuesday’s Promise.

Today, on International Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism, we honor the lives forever changed and lost to acts of terrorism around the world.

At the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, we remember the 2,977 people killed on September 11, 2001, and the six people killed in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Behind each number is a life, a family, a community, and a story that deserves to be remembered.

We stand with victims, survivors, families, and communities impacted by terrorism. Through remembrance and education, we carry their stories forward and reaffirm the importance of building a future rooted in understanding, compassion, and peace.

We are honored to be the recipients of the O'Halloran Memorial Golf Outing fundraiser for the third year in a row! This annual event is hosted by the O'Halloran family in memory of Chris O'Halloran, 9/11 Responder and U.S. Navy Veteran.

Thank you to the O'Halloran Family, the 140 golfers and the many friends and volunteers brought warmth and support for Tuesday's Promise to the event.
