Many LGBTQIA+ individuals face unique challenges that can impact their mental well-being such as discrimination, stigma, and societal pressures. It’s crucial to create a safe and supportive space for LGBTQIA+ folks to discuss their mental health concerns and seek help when needed.

The bravest thing you can be is yourself and sometimes being your most authentic self can be hard. If you or someone you need is experiencing a mental health or su***de crisis, resources are available and ready to help!

In many su***de deaths or attempts, the method used is highly influenced by access to lethal means. By putting time and distance between a person in crisis and their access to those means, can save a life.

- Safely secure fi****ms with a trigger/cable lock or store them in a safe. Ensure that they are unloaded and away from ammunition.

Today we celebrate Juneteenth a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. As we reflect on the progress that we have made and the work that still needs to be done, let’s also recognize the importance of mental health and substance use in the BIPOC community.

It is no secret that the BIPOC community faces unique challenges when it comes to mental health and substance use. Systematic racism, discrimination, and intergenerational trauma all contribute to higher rates of mental health disorders and substance use disorders among BIPOC individuals.

On this Juneteenth, let’s prioritize the mental health and well-being of our BIPOC brothers and sisters. Let’s work to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and provide access to culturally competent care. Together we can create a more equitable community where all individuals have the resources they need to thrive.

Drink less to remember time spent with friends!

As we kick off the summer season and start planning for upcoming events and celebrations, let’s remember the importance of responsible alcohol consumption. While it’s fun to toast to good times with friends and family, it’s still crucial to prioritize safety and well-being. Remember that alcohol is not a solution to cope with stress, anxiety, or other mental health challenges. Seek out healthier ways to express yourself and connect with others!

If someone you know is struggling with alcohol misuse, reach out for help. There are resources available such as support groups, counseling services, and treatment programs.

With graduations happening all over the county, there are a lot of reasons to celebrate. Plan to keep those celebrations safe for all by creating an alcohol-free environment for our youth. Hosting underage drinking parties not only puts young people at risk of harm, but it also exposes hosts to legal liabilities and consequences. Instead, take this time to encourage open communication with teens about the dangers of underage drinking and provide alternative activities for them to enjoy.

The Parents Who Host Lose the Most (https://preventionactionalliance.org/prevention-programs/parents-who-host-lose-the-most/) campaign highlights the risks and consequences of underage drinking and the importance of responsible hosting practices, especially during celebratory events like graduation!
