The Captain John McAdams Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was organized October 16, 1971, with seventy-one members and four associate members present. Original officers were: Regent, Opal McAdams Samuel; Vice-Regent, Dorothy Day McAdams; Second Vice-Regent, Reba Burtis; Recording Secretary, Louise Knight; Honorary Secretary, Virginia Blakeney; Corresponding Secretary, Ann Westmoreland; Treasurer, Eva Jean Callaham; Registrar, Lucille Garrison; Historian, Bernice Heath; Librarian, Melba Frossard; Chaplain, Inez Heath; Curator, Jere Samuel McCann, and Parliamentarian, Lockie Thompson.
