The Cubs were able to witness some big accomplishments that happened for the scouts in Scouts, BSA Troop 1589. Ms Layla received her Wood Badge beads and Tanner, Henry and James became Eagle Scouts. What a wonderful ceremony for the Cubs to see!

We are so excited to be walking in the Hazel Park Memorial Day Parade tomorrow! This evening we all got together to decorate our trailer.

Tomorrow during the parade we will be collecting retired flags. Just place them in our wagons or hand them to a scout to be placed in the wagon.

Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!

Look at our Bears and the wonderful items they collected for the Hazel Park Animal Control Shelter for their service project!

The wonderful officer at the shelter let the boys tour the shelter and pet some of their animals that are up for adoption.

What an amazing job Cubs! We are so proud of the difference you are making in the community!

Thank you to all who donated to help the Bears with their project!

Thursday's meeting consisted of bike safety, traffic safety and having fun playing kickball. Thank you to the Madison Heights Police Department for allowing the Cubs to see a police car and take photos with you.

What an honor to see our scouts shining bright as they lent their helping hands to pay tribute to our Veterans by cleaning gravestones at Oak View Cemetery in commemoration of Memorial Day! Every scout and family member showed what it means to be a Scout!

Hello neighbors, supporter and friends,

As of this year, Madison Heights has canceled its Memorial Day parade in exchange for a concert in the park, which is also a meaningful way to show respect. However, I would love for our Cub Scouts to experience the fun, excitement, and pride that comes with marching in a parade and honoring our country and those who have served.

Because of that, Pack 1589, along with some troop members, will be proudly participating in the Hazel Park Memorial Day Parade, if you enjoyed Madison Heights’s parade, I suggest going to Hazel Park’s this year!

In the past, we’ve reached out to this community for support with our Pinewood Derby and received such an overwhelmingly kind and generous response. I’m hoping to once again bring our community together for something special.

For our parade float, we plan to decorate our trailer and honor fallen service members by displaying their photos. If you would like to participate, you can send me a photo of your fallen hero in uniform and I will print and frame each photo and display it on our float as a tribute during the parade.

Additionally, we will have one Scout on each side walking alongside the float with a wagon. If you have an old or worn American flag, you are welcome to hand it to us as we pass by. Our troop conducts a respectful flag retirement ceremony on September 11th, where these flags will be properly honored.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you would like to support our parade float, I have included an Amazon registry link below. If you would like to submit a photo of a fallen service member, please send it to my email listed here:

Thank you for helping us honor those who gave everything for our country.
