Sweater weather is officially here, and that means one more thing to check before you buckle up: removing the bulky coat before buckling the car seat. A thick coat can compress in a crash, leaving the harness too loose to do its job. Buckle and secure the harness first, then you can add the coat over the top or use it as a blanket instead. This small move can make a big difference in how well the harness can protect your rider.

The CCC has been removing barriers for individuals, youth, and families for many years in Washington County. We do our best when our work is informed by you!

We invite youth and families to share their input on experiences accessing a driver's permit/license and barriers that may limit that. We want to hear what resources and support will make it easier!

Please join us for a feedback session (two dates/locations available)

Monday October 19th, 4-5pm Washington Academy library, East Machias
OR
Tuesday October 20th, 4-5pm Sunrise County Economic Council, Calais

$50 stipend and $25 gas card (per family) is provided. We'll have pizza too!

Youth and families interested in attending, please register here: https://www.cccmaine.org/license-me-listening-sessions-registration/

Our Heating Assistance team is currently receiving an exceptionally high number of calls. We know that reaching out for heating assistance often comes at a stressful time, and we want our community to know that our staff are working hard to respond to every message as quickly as possible.

Calls are being returned in the order messages are received, so we ask that you please leave one message and allow our team the opportunity to return your call.

We also want to be transparent that Emergency Fuel funding is currently unavailable and will not be available until November, limited donations may be available for those households with individuals 65 years of age or older and/or individuals experiencing extreme medical conditions who have not received a donation in the last 12 months.

We know this can be stressful for households needing assistance, and we appreciate your patience as our team works diligently to respond to each person and connect households with available resources.

Thank you for your patience, kindness, and understanding as we work to serve our community.
