Today, Subdued City Rollers joins the global community in celebrating International Transgender Day of Visibility. 🏳️‍⚧️

To our trans and non-binary skaters, volunteers, and fans: We see you. We love you. We’ll roll with you. Our league is built on the belief that everyone deserves a place where they can be their authentic selves. In the rink and out in the world, you belong here. We are committed to keeping derby a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for all genders.

Even coaches need practice sometimes. 😅

Our Level 1 skaters are learning one of the most important derby skills: how to fall small and stay safe. Knees down, stay compact, protect yourself, and pop back up.

Coach CSG generously volunteered to demonstrate the “incorrect” method so the kids could really see the difference. Thanks Coach!

Derby lesson of the day:
Fall small. Laugh it off. Try again.

If you have a kid who loves skating, teamwork, and learning confidence on wheels, youth roller derby might be their new favorite sport.

The Subdued City Rollers is opening the doors this January 🛼✨

We are an all-inclusive, all-gender, non-discriminatory 🌈 youth sport welcoming skaters ages 7–17 of all experience levels.

📍 Watch a practice:
• January 8 | 5:30–7 PM
• January 15 | 5:30–7 PM

🛼 Open skate / try it out:
• January 11 | 11 AM–1 PM
• LAST chance to try for 2025/2026 season: January 18 | 11 AM–1 PM

The Subdued City Rollers focuses on confidence, teamwork, movement, and belonging on and off the track. Parents are welcome, questions are encouraged, and new skaters are always supported. Come see if junior roller derby is a fit for your kid!

Tonight is the final night for our KEEP KIDS ON SKATES & MEALS ON PLATES IN WHATCOM COUNTY Fundraiser so we’re ringing in the New Year by giving back and giving away a basket of goodies valued at $100.

How to Enter (before midnight):

• Donate $5 = 10 entries

Today’s North Pole Knockout was pure magic on wheels ❄️🛼
Six teams from South Puget Sound up through Vancouver BC, all rolling together for one reason: because we love this sport.
New faces, old friends, and that chaotic scrimmage energy that reminds you exactly why we lace up.
What a day. What a crew. What a sport!

A special thank you to the Refs, Coaches, Volunteers, Medics and for making our day safe!

Subdued City Rollers is hosting our North Pole Knockout Open Scrimmage on Sunday, December 7th at the Lynden Skateway, and the Level 2 & Level 3 juniors are ready to throw down. Doors open to the public at 8:45am.

Open to junior skaters cleared for level 2 & level 3
Sunday, December 7th at the Lynden Skateway
421 Judson Street Aly, Lynden, Wa 98264
8:30am: level 2 skater check in (please arrive early)
8:45am: doors open to the public
9:00am: level 2 whistle
11:00: level 3 whistle (arrive by 10:15am latest)
1:00-1:10pm: Exit building (doors to public open skate at 1:30pm)
Ticketing: Children (5-13): $5  • Adult (14+): $10
While you’re here, check out our donation based Holiday Pop-Up Shop! There will be tons of great gifts for everyone on your list & all proceeds are split 50/50 between SCR & the Bellingham Food Bank. Cash & card accepted. Please bring a reusable bag if you have one!

Scrim day, finally! 💥
Mechanical Mayhem (Level 2) and Heart Stoppers (Level 3) hit the track and showed what a different kind of tough really means.
