We’re honored to share that INSIDE LONGMONT was named Emerging Business of the Year by the !

This recognition means a lot to us. From the beginning, we wanted to create a publication that would elevate the community, support local contributors and businesses, and tell stories that were not being told. To have that work recognized is humbling and encouraging.

Thank you to the Longmont Chamber for this honor, and to everyone who has helped make the magazine possible—our photographers, designers, writers, editors, advertisers, subscribers, and supporters. We could not do this without you, or without a community that believes in local stories and independent journalism.

We also want to congratulate our fellow nominees, and Antonio’s Pizza, who exemplify the passion, service, and community-minded spirit that define so many of Longmont’s local businesses.

We look forward to many more issues in print! Thanks Longmont!

A big congratulations to INSIDE LONGMONT Pawtner, for recently celebrating their 10th anniversary serving local families and their pets! (See what we did there?!)

In February, Dr. Mimi Elliott and Dr. Tory Wunder marked 10 years of running their practice. While Longmont Small Animal Hospital has served the community since 1978, the past decade has been one of meaningful growth including expanded services, advanced diagnostics and surgery, and the launch of our Urgent Care.

Kudos to Dr. Elliott, Dr. Wunder and the entire LSAH team!

Snowboarder and Longmont native Chase Blackwell, 26, will compete in his first Olympic Games as a member of Team USA in Milan-Cortina from Feb. 6 to 22.

Colorado leads all states with 32 athletes on Team USA’s 232-member Winter Olympic roster—nearly 14%, according to Team USA. But unlike many Colorado Olympic skiers and snowboarders who have reaped benefits of living and training slopeside in Rocky Mountain ski towns, ’s path to the Games started in Longmont. His journey has included 11 top-10 finishes on the World Cup circuit, including a podium appearance at Mammoth in 2023. He narrowly missed qualifying for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

Blackwell learned just two and a half weeks ago that he had earned a spot on the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team in the Olympic men’s snowboard halfpipe. The qualification round is scheduled for Feb. 11, with the medal round set for Feb. 13.

The athlete currently lives in Leadville but still visits his childhood home often, lately so his parents can drive him to Denver International Airport for competitions. He spoke with INSIDE LONGMONT after wrapping up training in Laax, Switzerland. Read the interview at insidelongmont.com or click link in bio!

Longmont Theatre Company continues its recent resurgence with the long-awaited production of The Odd Couple, the classic, beloved comedy by Neil Simon. Set in the 1960s, the comedy centers on two disparate divorced men who end up sharing an apartment.

Directed by Rob Mess—the nonprofit theater’s artistic director and vice president of its board of directors—the show stars two longtime company members: Chris Martinez as Oscar Madison and Scott Dunn as Felix Ungar.

“It’s a wonderful comedy, it’s escapist, it’s a laugh riot, a laugh-a-minute kind of play that is highly entertaining,” says Mess, who returned to the theater company’s board in July after several years. “But it’s also about social change and adapting to your circumstances in life and reinventing yourself. All of those things really resonate with people.”

For , this production carries particular significance because it was originally set to open in 2020 but was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic just weeks into rehearsal. Then it was postponed again in 2021. The Odd Couple’s arrival comes under a new board of directors, following multiple sold-out performances since summer 2025.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the huge amount of support we’ve gotten from the community,” says Mess. “It’s people showing up at the doors, it’s volunteers coming back, it’s financial support. It’s amazing how many people want to contribute to the theater company and be a part of this.”
First staged on Broadway in 1965, The Odd Couple has been produced widely for decades, making its arrival in Longmont a notable moment for the local theater community. Tickets for the show start at $17.

Show dates: Feb. 6–8, 13–15, 20–21
