ONE DAY LEFT!!! TOMORROW IS THE DAY!!!

Real talk... it looks like tomorrow morning may have some rain. BOOO!

In case you were wondering, the odds of it raining on three consecutive Memorial Days in Loganville, GA is about 3.5% (we did the seasonally corrected math). We know its a bummer but we also know many of you will elect to ride, regardless. It currently looks like any heavy rain and storms will hold off until later in the afternoon, but there are no promises... the forecast has been going back and forth like a toddler between grandparents holding cookie jars.

If you are comfortable and experienced riding in the rain, come on, the LEO es**rt makes this about as good as a wet road ride gets. If you are a new rider, or are not comfortable riding with some rain... don't force it. This is a big ride even when it is small and it is no time to be cutting your teeth on spray.

No matter how you come, no matter if you ride, here are our final thoughts:

1. We hope you have enjoyed our countdown. Thanks to everyone who shared, liked, and played along.
2. Bring cash tomorrow, it will make your life better, we promise.
3. Come with a tank full of gas, we have been clear about this.
4. If you plan to ride with your group, arrive as a group. We do not have room for you to figure it out in our lot.
5. Have your gate money easily accessible. A smooth gate is a happy gate.
6. Remember to patronize or otherwise thank our amazing sponsors. The money we raise every year helps veterans of all ages.
7. Ride safe and don't be a pinhead. The person in front of or behind you could be on their first group ride, model good behavior.
8. Sign your waiver then get your T-Shirt early to be sure to get your size. Grab a pin or patch while you are at it. Come back in the afternoon, it will be a good time and we have lots of great raffle prizes this year.
9. Respect the day, the crosses, the flags and be moved by the patriotic Americans along the route.
10. Share your pictures and videos with us, we love that, really.
11. Thanks for helping keep this amazing ride alive all these years and for helping us mark this important day together!
12. We love all y'all (except that one guy, you know who you are).

And then thou shall count to THREE! No more, no less...

It's time to talk weather. We are watching the forecast, you are watching the forecast. If the current pattern holds, we expect to get the ride in before the normal summer pattern stirs up afternoon rain but do be prepared for anything (we have had hot sun and cold rain but never had holy hand grenades, one never knows).

Do take some time to make sure both your gear and your bike is ready for the potential of wet roads and rain. This ride is in memory of our fallen, they put up with more than rain to answer our nation's call to arms.

We ride, rain or shine, or even some morning clouds which is what we are currently expecting.

"ONE" and only ONE WEEK UNTIL RFA!!!! Here are some annual reminders to make your day more enjoyable and our jobs easier... win-win:
1. Bring cash for the gate, have it in a pocket or somewhere you can get it without dismounting and tying things up. $10 for the rider and an extra $5 if you have a passenger.

2. Bring cash for lots of other stuff. The post has an ATM, but the lines can get long and frustrating. Sufficient cash will let you get raffle tickets, T-Shirts, and all kinds of stuff quickly and easily.

3. If you are coming to ride in a group (2 or more), come through the gate as that group. It is a safety consideration for us to have folks trying to get together once they are in the lot. Also, it is impossible once you are in line. We expect a LOT of bikes and need to get them all parked safely. You CANNOT hold a spot for someone to come fill later, no matter what.

4. Make sure you fill up with gas before you come in. It is a 74 mile round trip and not everyone has a big tank. There are always one or two folks who remember after they get parked in line, way in the back. We judge, we judge harshly, we will talk about you all year until the next ride.

5. Have fun, be safe! There will be riders of EVERY skill level on the ride. Keep your helmet straps tight and your head on a swivel.

6. Be patient with our volunteers, they are exactly that. Other than some bar staff, no one you deal with is paid to be there, we do it because we love the our country, we love this ride, and because the ride helps us raise much needed money for our scholarships and other work we do with and for veterans and our community. Including housing and feeding homeless veterans.

7. Please be mindful that there is also a solemn Memorial Day Ceremony before KSU, please participate, please do so reverently. It is a day to celebrate freedom, but first and foremost it is a day to remember the costs of that freedom.

There will be more to go over this week, but this will get us started. See less

Just 10 days until most of us will wrap 10 fingers around the handle bars and make some noise!!! (Shop teachers please don't message us, your days will come). Some of us will also start work on this very specific set of tan lines that only summer riding in fingerless gloves can bring.

TEN DAYS UNTIL RFA Y'ALL! Get excited!

TWELVE you say?!? Are you sure it's 12?

Just a dozen days until RFA
Entry is still just $10 per rider and $5 for a passenger.

There will be door prizes, raffle prizes, and a 50/50 that can't be beat.

Bring plenty of cash, and some friends!

It's Countdown time again!!!!

Just two weeks until ride for America on Memorial Day!

14 important reminders:

1. Bring cash, everything is better with cash
2. Have your gate money available where you can get it without getting off your bike, folks will cuss in their helmets if you have to dig around for it. We will let them.
3. Please DO NOT SHOW UP DRUNK!
4. Please DO NOT GET DRUNK AFTER YOU SHOW UP!
5. Please DO NOT LET YOUR FRIENDS SHOW UP DRUNK!
6. Make sure you have a full tank of gas BEFORE you get into our parking lot. Count on 75 miles of riding, much of it slow.
7. Please do not hot dog during the ride, do not hang back and ride fast, do not do wheelies, do not migrate up or back the line of bikes.
8. Please remember we are trying to keep this safe for EVERYBODY, even those who are doing it as their first group ride, you had a first group ride. Be courteous and patient.
9. Please do not join the ride along the route. It is not safe and it makes you look hella cheap, pay the $10 and join the pre-ride fun.
10. Please do not abuse our workers or volunteers, it takes a lot to put this ride on and not a one of us gets paid.
11. If you want to ride as a group, arrive as a group.
12. Please do come back to the post for the afternoon events.
13. Please listen to the announcements.
14. Please remember that this ride is a Memorial Day ride, many towns along the route think of us as "their" Memorial Day parade. Be respectful, wave and smile and be moved at how many Americans are out there to support you.

Another successful visit to the GA War Veterans Home in Milledgeville! One of our bi-annual visits providing lunch and gift bags to the veterans. Thank you everyone that went down to Milledgeville or provided for the trip! The cookout for the veterans was a success despite some challenges. The rain held off until the ride home (those riding got a brief cold shower).
We had 13 riders plus 6 rider allies work to serve approx. 50 veterans that came down to enjoy the cookout. We showed up with 6 bikes, 1 slingshot, and several vehicles. We provided 100 goody bags to the veterans that joined us and distributed the rest to residents in their rooms.
All who ate indicated they really enjoyed the food and company! Our group received compliments and appreciation from the activities team for how organized and efficient we were. A special thank you to Raymond Hills Baptist Church, for sending an unexpected monetary donation towards our purchases for Milledgeville.
