The Gakobe Strong Foundation, Inc. is excited to invite our community to come together for our very first Gifts of Hope Holiday Toy Drive a special day dedicated to bringing joy, hope, and love to children and families this holiday season. 🎄✨

This is bigger than toys. It’s about reminding families that they are seen, supported, loved, and surrounded by a community that cares. 💙

As I continue turning pain into purpose, every event and every act of giving allows me to carry forward the love and legacy of my son, Gakobe “Kobe” Milton. 💛🎗️

On December 23, 2025, I chose PURPOSE on my birthday. 💙💛

Instead of making that day about receiving, I chose to give.

The Gakobe Strong Foundation returned to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Arthur M. Blank Hospital to bless families who were facing pediatric cancer.

Walking back into a place that holds so many memories for our family was emotional, but I knew there was purpose in going back. I knew there were mothers, fathers and children sitting in hospital rooms of the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorder floor experiencing some of the same fear, uncertainty and pain that Gakobe and our family once experienced.

Today, we want to continue showing up. 💙💛

10/26/2024 — about a month and a half before my son transitioned, this was Gakobe at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Arthur M. Blank)

From the day he was diagnosed on 6/11/2022 until his very last breath, my son kept the faith. He trusted the process, he fought, and he believed.

Looking at this picture reminds me that right now, another child and family may be sitting in one of those same rooms on the Aflac floor experiencing some of the same fear, pain, and uncertainty that our family experienced.

That is why we turned our pain into purpose.

On 12/23/2025, my birthday, I returned to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta with the Gakobe Strong Foundation to bless families walking a journey we knew all too well. The pictures and video in this post are from that day.

And we will do it again this year. 💙💛

FROM PAIN TO PURPOSE 💙💛

10/26/2024.

About a month and a half before my son transitioned, this was Gakobe at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

From the day he was diagnosed on 6/11/2022 until his very last breath, my son kept the faith. He trusted the process. He fought. He believed. And through everything cancer put him through, Gakobe showed a strength that I will carry with me forever.

When I look at this picture, my heart immediately goes back to those hospital rooms. 💔 And what stays on my mind is knowing that right now, another child and another family may be sitting in one of those same rooms on the Aflac floor experiencing some of the same fear, uncertainty, pain, and heartbreak that Gakobe and our family experienced.

That is why we are turning our PAIN into PURPOSE. 🙏🏽💙💛

On 12/23/2025, my birthday, I returned to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta with the Gakobe Strong Foundation to bless families who were walking a journey we knew all too well.

I could have spent my birthday anywhere, but there was nowhere more meaningful for me to be than giving back to families in my son’s name. And we will be doing it again this year. 💙💛

Gakobe may no longer be here physically, but his strength, his faith, his fight, and his legacy continue to live through every family we are able to touch.

My heart is so full as I look back on the Every Little Step I Take – Gakobe Strong 5K Walk. This day was filled with love, support, beautiful memories, and so many people who helped make it special for my family and the Gakobe Strong Foundation.

💙💛 Thank you to the Detroit Pistons and Hooper for coming out, supporting our walk, and bringing so much joy to the day.

💙💛 Thank you to WDIV Local 4 / Channel 4 Detroit for being there, speaking with my boys, and helping us share Gakobe’s story and the mission of the Gakobe Strong Foundation.
