BoS Summary – 05.12.26
-Adopted resolutions recognizing National Police Week, Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, Public Works Week, Nurses Week, Hospital Week, Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, Mental Health Awareness Month, and Dr. Nancy Buscher.
-Appointed Eric Maldahal to the Fish & Game Advisory Commission. Thank you for serving the Third District.
-On the consent agenda, we approved $7,000 for MCARLM’s internship program expansion.
-Approved the FY 2026–27 Annual Action Plan, allocating $2.62M in CDBG and HOME funds for affordable housing, infrastructure, public facilities, and services. Authorized HCD to submit the plan to HUD.
-Approved Measure AA funding for roads, parks, and community projects, including Vierra Canyon and San Benancio Road expansions. Tier 2 items were not approved today but will return to the Board soon.
-Received presentations from Monterey County Business Council and See Monterey on FY 25–26 efforts.
-Received a response on renaming the Agricultural Commissioner’s Office in Salinas to the Richard Nutter Agricultural Resource Center.
-Received a preliminary response to a referral on a proposed $15 court fee waiver flexibility for judges; directed County Counsel to return with a draft amendment.
