Does anybody have any Abprazole they no longer need that they would like to donate? I am trying to help someone with a Thoroughbred they rescued from truly horrible conditions, but we need the Abprazole we have for Sasha. If you do, send a message and let me know if I can pick it up or you can mail it to us?

Lucky and Wh***ey today - two Griffith Park pony ride ponies who are living their very best lives almost four years now since they retired! One is late 20's and the other is early 30's.

Welcome Sasha! Danica saw her on Craigslist and within an hour last night, we had enough donations to bail her out of her crappy home. She is very tall. No tattoo. Too stressed out to tell what her personality is like yet. Thank you to those who donated to bring her here - I will put a list in the comments, but I am running out the door at the moment.

Soaking your horses’ feed adds supplemental water to their diet - water that they might not otherwise have ingested, given the equine species in general is more self-destructive than Lindsay Lohan circa 2010.

That water helps to prevent impaction colics, the #1 killer of otherwise healthy horses. The mushy food means your older horses’ dental issues - not all of which can be resolved with dental care - do not prevent them from getting the most out of their feed.

We all know that drinking enough water is essential for our health, but we overlook how equally important it is for our horses. Win the hydration game every day with soaked feed!

Scarlet and Halo joined one of the big pens today with a minimum of drama. From right to left: Halo, Scarlett, Prima, Chicky, Lola and Cece. Fenna and Pie moved to an integration pen where they will stay for a couple of days until Yoshi (who is a drama llama) calms down about them over the fence and then they will join him, Heaven, Calamari and Lemon Drop.

Thanks so much to our trainer Monica and volunteer Abby for taking Redhead and Strawberry (formerly Stella) to the vet hospital today. Redhead has a squamous cell carcinoma on her eye, but Dr. Sullivan did not think that she needed to lose her eye. She is going to get some topical treatment that he believes may resolve the problem. Strawberry has ringbone so we are going to try some meds to see if she shows improvement because she’s very young to retire, only about ten years old.

Just FYI, this is why I get BIG MAD every time some knucklehead in a comment section says a severely emaciated horse should just be euthanized.

Skinny is extremely fixable if organs haven't already failed.

Like...it's not even hard to do. If you know what to feed and what not to feed, you soak the food, you don't do something dumb like feed them grain or twelve carrots, 99% of the time they're gonna live and they're going back to looking great.

Comeback Kid: This is absolutely amazing! I captured the top image two years ago—a four year old mare rescued by my friends at Cracker Box Palace at Alasa Farms near Sodus, NY in Wayne County. The horse she was rescued with wasn’t as fortunate and died. I am THRILLED to report today that Rosie today won second place at a horse show in Palmyra, NY—her first event. Laura Reagan, owner of Stride by Stride Horsemanship, adopted Rosie a year and a half ago after Cracker Box worked tirelessly to get the horse brought back to her luster—bulking her with 500 pounds and nurturing her with love. I chronicled this saga and was appalled by what I witnessed when I first saw her. This is an AMAZING comeback story as this forges forward. I’ll keep the updates coming…and thank you to ALL of the rescue shelters out there!

Good. Could Kern County follow suit? For decades we've been watching every animal hoarder/fake rescue/backyard breeder/knuckle-dragging idiot who shouldn't own anything with a heartbeat move to San Bernardino and Kern to avoid Los Angeles County Animal Control.

Let's crack down on all of them. And let's also stay on top of LA Animal Control, which needed to do something yesterday about the backyard breeding and severe abuse of animals taking place on Skid Row not to mention places like Lake L.A. being thick with dumped dogs.

This IS what we want our tax dollars funding. Clean it up and make actual arrests.
