Sarama Animal Rescue Sarama Animal Rescue rescues, rehabilitates and finds loving homes for animals in need. We take in all breeds, ages and personalities.

Sarama Animal Rescue rescues dogs, cats and small domestic animals in SouthJersey and New York City areas. We believe all beings have a right to live and thrive. All of our rescues are fully vetted including spay/neuter, vaccine, heartworm test for dogs, fiv/felv test for cats, microchipped and treated with flea preventative. Any other health issues or injuries are also taken care of by our caring

vets. We work with other rescues and people in the community towards a common goal of making the world a better place for animals. The name of our rescued was inspired by the myth of Sarama, the dog of the gods. Sarama is said to be the mother of all animals and protects them. She also helps to change people view point that animals are a "lesser being". Animals deserve kindness, love and respect just as humans do.

Unfortunately his foster home isnā€™t working out and Wags needs a new foster or adopter asap.

Wags is a super friendly, enthusiastic, playful dog. He is housebroken and crate trained and has gotten along with other dogs.

A little over one year ago, we saw this little black pitbull name Leovontae on the time stamped list at ACCT Philly. All the other dogs that were time stamped for euthanasia had been rescued but him. It broke our hearts and we wanted to help.

We were able to save him because a foster stepped up for him. He turned out to be the sweetest dog and after all his medical done a few months later, he was adopted to a wonderful family.

His family sent us this photo recently of him hiking in Shenandoah National Park. His name is Bronte now and heā€™s living his best life.

We love seeing photos and updates of adopted animals. Rescue is difficult, stressful and heartbreaking. But getting these updates makes us so happy.

The days are getting shorter, the calendar is inching toward fall, and our veterinary bills are still very much here.

This summer, weā€™ve had animals needing emergency surgery, urgent medical care, and the kind of treatment that canā€™t wait for a convenient timeā€”or a convenient budget. We got them the care they needed. Now weā€™re working to pay down the debt those emergencies left behind.

I have great news!

In the last three months we managed to almost cut our insane debt in half! We were once just over $70,000 in the spring and now we are down to $40,000. This is because so many people are chipping in to help and we are so grateful!

This is still a huge amount of debt and we still need your help. While working on the debt I also have to stay on top of current expenses as we have over 80 animals still in our care.

A kind supporter really wants to help us pay down this debt and has offered to do a $1000 donation match to help.

Last time we posted about Mya, we were trying to raise funds for cruciate surgeries on both her back legs. She was in pain and having trouble walking on her own and we didnā€™t want to wait any longer.

We had raised $700 out of the $7000 needed to move forward. We are extremely grateful to everyone who chipped in for Mya but it wasnā€™t enough and we almost had to postpone her surgeries again. Thankfully an angel donor stepped in and covered the remainder of the funds needed and Mya was able to have her surgery last week and has been home in her foster recovering.

Mya still has several weeks of recovery ahead of her but we are so grateful to have gotten this done so she can heal and walk, run and play with out pain in the future.

Thank you so much to everyone who contributed and made this possible for Mya. We are very grateful.

Some animals are easy to place. Some need a little more time, patience, medical care, or understanding.

Weā€™re the rescue that takes the harder casesā€”the animals who may be overlooked because they need extra help before theyā€™re ready for their forever homes.

That commitment comes with a price, and right now, a big part of that price is veterinary debt. Emergency surgeries, diagnostics, medications, and ongoing care add up quickly.
