Hello beekeepers,

Just a quick reminder about the meeting coming up this Thursday, August 6th at 7pm at the Harnett County Cooperative Extension Center, 126 Alexander Drive, Lillington.

We will hear from Richard Dunnagan on "Finding your Center in Beekeeping."

Please participate in our monthly raffle, $1 per ticket, or 6 for $5. As always, bring a bee-related item and get a free ticket! This is a good chance to offload some old or unneeded gear to some newbees.

Many area beekeepers have been and will be harvesting honey for the next several weeks. It will sell fast! We recommend you buy enough to last you and your family for the year rather than buying some now and hoping to find more when allergies kick in this Fall. If you have honey for sale, feel free to post your information in the comments.

It's that time of year again! Honeybee swarming season is fast approaching. If you or someone you know finds a honeybee swarm, please don't spray to kill them. We'll be happy to help find an area beekeeper to pick them up at no charge. A swarm will normally only stick around for an hour or two before moving to their new home so it's important to find someone quickly. Retrieving a swarm is a free service offered by many reputable area hobby beekeepers. Please contact us if you or anyone you know finds a swarm in Harnett County.
