Central Pa Horse Rescue CPHR is committed to rescuing horses of all ages and breeds from abuse, neglect, and slaughter.. We offer the horses a life where there is trust and hope.

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that care about horses and their quality of life. We are a no kill, volunteer organization that are improving the lives of horses by providing a safe environment and good nutrition and teaching others to do so as well. Through the efforts of Central Pa Horse Rescue (C.P.R.), we care for the equine, restoring health and well being and when possible placing them in loving, caring, forever homes.

Happy day!!!  congratulations to our volunteer Geri for adopting our sweet girl Storm!  Storm was rescued 2 1/2 year...

Happy day!!!  congratulations to our volunteer Geri for adopting our sweet girl Storm!  Storm was rescued 2 1/2 years ago. From living in an outside round pen for 10 months through freezing cold weather to 100° temperatures with never any shelter,, barely any food and  having to drink disgusting muddy water…  to never having one bit of attention… She has been blessed to live here with us at Central Pa Horse Rescue…
 She will continue to stay here and be loved by all the volunteers and continue to roam the farm with her best friend Misty…

Jake’s mass was a benign mast cell tumor and we have clean margins. No further treatment needed

Our sweet boy Jake had surgery yesterday… He had a mass on his man parts.  it will be tested and hopefully come back clear! He was such a wonderful patient…

There are always expenses daily that are incurred with these rescues… It doesn’t end just from the day that we save them, It continues on every single day of their life.!!

Congratulations to Miss Penny being adopted by Kristine!  Kristine has been  volunteering here with us st Central PA horse rescue for about three years….  she has officially adopted this sweet girl… Miss Penny will get to continue living her life here in luxury at Central PA Horse Rescue's beautiful farm…… She has made amazing new friends in the past few weeks and gets to continue being loved by all… Thank you Kristine!!

Update on our beautiful Miss Penny, who came to us almost two weeks ago.
She is already up 28 pounds since her rescue. But still has a long way to go! She’s gradually increasing her grain each day and has hay available 24/7 — exactly what every horse needs and deserves.

Central PA Horse Rescue receives no grants or funding. Every horse we save is cared for through the generosity of our founders and community. We are blessed with a beautiful farm and incredible volunteers, but the cost of rehabilitating horses like Penny is significant.

Here is what Penny needs each day as she continues her recovery:

Purina Senior Grain – Penny is now eating 9 lbs a day in three feedings.
A bag costs $30 and lasts about 5½ days.

Antibiotics – She takes 22 pills a day for a protein infection.
Cost: $10 per day.

Arthritis medication – $1 per day.

Joint supplements & Biotin – $4 per day. Essential for her badly cracked hooves that were neglected for far too long.

Hay – Horses require 1.5–2% of their body weight in roughage just to maintain weight.
Penny needs 25–30 lbs of hay per day to safely gain.
Hay costs at least $1 per pound.

Every dollar truly makes a difference.
