The greatest legacy we leave isn’t in the firehouse. It’s at home.

Today, we recognize the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers and father figures who lead by example, make sacrifices without recognition and show up every day for the people who depend on them most.

From all of us at the Professional Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs of Lake County, IAFF Local 3990, Happy Father’s Day.

National Cancer Survivors Day

Today, we honor the strength, courage, and resilience of cancer survivors everywhere.

Cancer has touched many members of the fire service, our families, and the communities we serve. It is a journey that reminds us of the power of hope and the importance of standing together.

Congratulations to the members of IAFF Local 3245 and the City of Tavares on securing a 24/72 work schedule.

As the fire service continues to evolve, departments across Florida are recognizing the importance of firefighter health, recovery, recruitment, retention, and family time. The passage of HB 929 established a 42 hour workweek as a best practice for Florida fire departments, reflecting a growing commitment to firefighter wellness and long term sustainability.

Investments like these strengthen organizations, improve quality of life, and help ensure departments remain competitive in attracting and retaining the best firefighters.

We commend the elected officials and fire department leadership of the City of Tavares for making firefighter health and wellbeing a priority. Their commitment to investing in the people who serve will benefit firefighters, their families, and the community for years to come.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our former brother, Max Vose.

Last night, Max lost his long and courageous battle with colorectal cancer.

Max was the kind of firefighter people enjoyed being around. He was known for his sense of humor, his love of the job, and the positive impact he had on those who had the privilege of serving alongside him. Whether on a call, around the station, or simply sharing a laugh with friends, Max left an impression that will not be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife, Kaylee, and their three children.

On behalf of the Professional Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs of Lake County, IAFF Local 3990, we extend our deepest condolences to Kaylee, their children, and all of Max’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Rest easy, brother.
