Troop 258 & Troop 358 are young, active youth-led scout troops in the Cedar Park and Leander Texas area that meet every week, camp every month, and provide a solid framework for outstanding Scouting experiences.

We are affiliated with and meet at Good News United Methodist Church every Tuesday at 7pm CT.

Troop 258 & Troop 358 are charted by the Capitol Ar

ea Council, North Shore District. Youth can join Troops 258 & 358 if they are at least 10 years old, currently in the fifth grade; OR have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, OR are age 11 but have not reached age 18.

Our crew is officially on the move! Today they board the 1:00 PM bus from Base Camp and begin their adventure with a 2.7-mile hike into House Canyon for Ranger Training.

As an added bonus, they’ll get to see the famous T-Rex tracks along the way—a prehistoric reminder that every trail has a story to tell!

Wishing them an unforgettable first day on the trail.

Wishing Philmont Crew 618-106 of Troop 258 the adventure of a lifetime as they begin their 12-day trek at Philmont!

Months of preparation have led to this moment. Ahead are miles of trails, breathtaking views, challenges to overcome, friendships to strengthen, and memories that will last forever.

Wishing our crew safe travels, strong spirits, and an incredible journey. May every step bring new experiences and opportunities for growth.

What a week for our troops! 🎉 Elections are in, our new Patrol Leaders’ Council is ready to lead, and we sealed it all with an unforgettable ILST campout at Russell Park in Georgetown.

Congratulations to Troop 358’s newest Eagle Scout, Aislyn G., on achieving the highest rank in Scouting! This incredible accomplishment reflects years of dedication, leadership, and service to others. We are so proud of all the hard work and perseverance it took to reach this milestone.

As part of her journey to Eagle, Aislyn led a meaningful conservation-focused project at the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve. After working with the preserve’s team, she identified a need for signage to support their reforestation efforts. Aislyn designed and built custom wooden signs to help guide and educate visitors, directly contributing to the protection of local wildlife and native plant life for years to come.

Troop 358 proudly congratulates our newest Eagle Scout, Alexis O. Yesterday, Alexis successfully completed her Eagle Board of Review, earning Scouting’s highest rank. For her Eagle project, she led the building and installation of 4 bat boxes at the Snowden Tract of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve.

🌱 Mulch Fundraiser Success! 🌱

A huge THANK YOU to everyone in our community who purchased mulch and supported our scouts. Your support truly makes a difference and helps provide opportunities for our youth to grow, learn, and lead.

We’re also incredibly grateful to the scouts, leaders, and parents who volunteered their time selling, organizing, delivering, and spreading mulch all weekend long. It was a lot of hard work, and the teamwork made it a great success.
