Frio Canyon Garden Club We meet once a month September through May. Our events relate to gardening, nature, and beautification projects in the Frio Canyon.

Organized and federated in 1994, the Frio Canyon Garden Club serves Leakey, Texas. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month, September through May, at 12:00 p.m. at the Club's headquarters, the Beard Heritage House & Gardens.

Plant Sale is next Saturday Mar 28 and we have a special guest! Sherry Miller, who grows all the heirloom tomatoes we sell, will be on hand to answer all your questions about vegetable gardens. She has been organic gardening for 50 years at Millwood Farms (not open to the public) and sells plants and vegetables at the Dripping Springs Farmers Market. Sherry spoke at Frio Canyon Garden Club a couple years ago: come see her Saturday!

We are so grateful for the generosity of Mike and Mary Smith Forman ! They moved from Leakey to San Antonio but remember their garden club days. Today they gave us two terrific galvanized metal tanks to use as big vegetable planters. Thank you so much!

Fascinating field trip to Utopia Organic Gardens, where we were treated to a tour by owner Mark Hall and manager Christine Bell. This lovely farm just north of Utopia has a dairy operation herd share program, state of the art greenhouse, chickens and several acres of vegetables. A real highlight was stopping at their farm stand to purchase the world's best cilantro, sweet potatoes, baked goods, jams and pickles.

A champagne toast to celebrate new signs at the north welcome site! After much collaboration with Real Co., TXDOT, a metal craftsman, City of Leakey, and many volunteers...we have striking new signs on both the 83 and 336 entrances to town. Thanks also to community groups like Lions Club, Frio Canyon Chamber, and KIRB for their ongoing support of Garden Club beautification projects.
