Also, God allowed Abigail’s Plan and the Summertown TN community to team up and complete an all-inclusive, ‘Abigail’s Playground’. Abigail's Plan was created to raise an initial $350,000 to build a Miracle League baseball field for people of all ages with special needs to play in an organized baseball league. We have people with wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, and other walking issues that difficu

lties with mobility on the uneven grass and dirt surface of a regular baseball field. Some of our players are in their wheelchairs every waking hour of their lives. These chairs are very expensive and the caregiver has to spend lots of time after a game cleaning up the chairs. Most of these wheelchairs have brake systems and other intricate parts that are very sensitive to dirt and debris. Regular baseball field dugouts are not wheelchair or walker accessible. Our players in wheelchairs that use walkers have to sit outside the dugouts during the game instead of having the experience of comradery with their teammates inside the dugout. While we can't take disabilities away, Abigail's Plan is striving to create an environment to make the baseball experience as enjoyable as possible for players with special needs. With a rubberized field, our players will have the freedom to play baseball without the obstacles of a regular baseball field.
