AgeSpan Our mission is to ensure everyone’s choice to lead fulfilling lives as they age.

AgeSpan, formerly Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley and North Shore, is a designated federal Area Agency on Aging (AAA), a Massachusetts Aging Service Access Point (ASAP), and elder protective service agency for 28 cities and towns in northeastern MA. We have strong partnerships with healthcare organizations through our Healthy Living Center of Excellence and the Merrimack Valley Community Partner program. We established an Aging and Disability Resource Consortium with partner agencies to extend our assistance to disability populations and families caring for disabled adults.

Congratulations Lisa Rose and welcome Barbara Solomon!

After 12 years as Regional Director of the SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) program, Lisa Rose is retiring. Her dedication to the SHINE program, which offers free, unbiased Medicare counseling, leaves a lasting legacy. We wish her all the best in retirement!

New Regional SHINE Director Barbara Solomon has worked closely with Lisa to transition into the role. She is excited to begin working with volunteers and staff to make Medicare enrollment easier for older adults in the Merrimack Valley and North Shore.

Our Annual Meeting is just one month away!

Join us for our Annual Meeting on Friday, November 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Blue Ocean Event Center in Salisbury, MA as we celebrate the extraordinary impact of caregivers through this year’s theme, Care in Action.

We’ll recognize the compassion and dedication of both professional and family caregivers who make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.

We're excited to highlight the stories of real caregivers.

Jennifer Beaulieu
Jennifer is the guardian and primary caregiver for her mother, who lives with multiple sclerosis. She’ll share how AgeSpan has supported her as a caregiver and helped her become a paid caregiver for her mother.

Rick Heath
Rick became the primary caregiver for his dear friend Ellen following her dementia diagnosis. He’ll share how the AgeSpan Family Caregiver Support program connected him with resources and support he didn’t know were available.

Every day, our staff bring their time, energy, compassion, and dedication to the work they do. We are incredibly grateful for the people who make our agency what it is.

On September 19, we took a break from the day-to-day to spend some time together and celebrate our amazing staff at Wamesit Lanes in Tewksbury.

The day was filled with bowling, arcade games, great food, plenty of laughs, and a raffle with some fun prizes. More than anything, it was a chance to connect, enjoy each other’s company, and take a moment to recognize all that our staff contribute every day.

We are so thankful for this team and the care they bring to everything they do.

AgeSpan staff are Ready for What’s Next following a great day of learning and connection at the Mass Aging Access conference!

The event was an opportunity for professionals from Aging Services Access Points (ASAPs) and Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) to come together to learn about practical approaches to today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities.

Among the event presenters was AgeSpan Director of Nursing and Community Health Programs, Naomi Tang, who provided an overview of clinical requirements for nursing facility eligibility and how they apply to home and community-based services.

A Practical Path for AI for Organizations was the topic of a session led by a group of leaders including AgeSpan Chief Information Officer Jim Santiago. The panel shared ways AI can make organizations more efficient, but only with real people checking the work.

AgeSpan was proud to join this group of professionals from around the commonwealth to share ideas and move forward together.
