📚Join us this Saturday for week 3 of Pages and Powers as we discuss passages from the book, “Revolting Prostitutes"📚

One of our member’s suggested that we read this topic together. Even within leftist spaces, it can be treated as taboo subject. This is an invitation to expand our views and get comfortable with the uncomfortable! The discussions will be about workers' rights and border policing through the lens of s*x work.
The fight for workers' rights includes ALL workers.✊🏽

See you this Saturday!✊🏽📚🌳

📚Pages & Power week 2 recap📚

Thank you to all who attended our last of Pages & Powers meetup. The group read “Decolonization Is Not a Metaphor” by E.Tuck that brought really great discussions amongst the group.

The article poses a great question, what would decolonization actually look like? To us it means synthesizing our collective learning, taking ownership and accountability within our social circles, and being comfortable with being uncomfortable. It takes all of us to step up for our community, to be vulnerable with one another, and allow ourselves to grow from past mistakes. We must realize that everything we do on this Earth is personal but we have to rise above and not take petty things personally.

If you missed out, no worries! Join us this Saturday 29th for our next meeting. 📚

💫 Grateful to celebrate our 6 year anniversary as Community Loving alongside volunteers, shoppers, and partners who make all this possible. 🫂💜

At our August Free store, we served 60+ community members who were able to access essentials like clothing, food, books, hygiene and other resources without barriers!

Each free store is a reminder that community care is something we build together—in solidarity! 🫱🏾‍🫲🏽✨

Throw back to our Community Loving team outing at earlier this summer🍨

We had a fun time bonding over ice cream, lactose intolerance and supporting small-business!🍦

Did you know since February of this year Kansha Creamery has donated 75 cents of every ice cream sold to Community Loving! We are soo incredibly grateful for their support and generosity. So if you'd like to support our work and treat yourself to something sweet, please go and visit them! 🍨💜

What does decolonization actually mean?
How does colonization influence our every day life and what would it take to truly decolonize?

Join us this Saturday for Week 2 of Pages & Power to discuss these questions and more as we read the article, “Decolonization Is Not A Metaphor” 📚

No prior reading necessary and the article can be found for free online. Looking forward to the discussion and hope to see you there!

Pages & Power is a joint Community Loving and PSL book club where we gather to read, learn, and imagine a better world liberated from exploitative and oppressive systems 📚✊🏽

Our first Pages & Power session went great! So much was discussed as we read through the introduction chapter of Socialist Reconstruction, we would pause after reading a section to discuss points that came to mind, tying them back to our personal experiences or recent events.

A discussion point that stood out to me was all of us feeling we didn’t have enough time for ourselves. Under our current system, so much of life revolves around work. We all agreed that we want to be able to enjoy our work AND have enough time afterwards to dedicate to ourselves and our loved ones. We all want autonomy over our lives and we recognize that we don’t have to oppress others to achieve it.

It gave me so much hope knowing I wasn’t alone in feeling this way. Being amongst my community members, expressing our thoughts and realizing we have so much in common felt invigorating! I’m excited about continuing these discussions and building our vision of a better world together.

Hope you can make it to the next one, Saturday 8/15!
