Benji is 9 years old… but nobody remembered to tell her that. 😆💕

This little Chihuahua mix is convinced she’s still a puppy, and honestly, we don’t have the heart to argue with her. At 9 years young, Benji is playful, goofy, full of personality, and always ready for her next adventure.

Need a walking buddy? Benji’s in.

Looking for a best friend who will make you smile every day? Benji has that covered too. ❤️

She loves treats (seriously, LOVES them 🍖), enjoys spending time with her people, and has wonderful manners. Benji gets along great with other small dogs and would thrive with someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and wants a loyal sidekick by their side.

The only thing on Benji’s “no thank you” list? Cats. She isn’t aggressive, but she thinks chasing them is a pretty fun hobby. 😅

While so many people overlook senior dogs, Benji is proof that age is just a number. She still has so much life, love, and adventure left to share with her future family.

🚨 SENIOR RESCUE ALERT: WELCOME TO VPRP, OLLIE ❤️🐾

Today we said YES to a sweet senior who desperately needed a second chance.

Meet Ollie, a 13-year-old Dachshund who was facing euthanasia at The Animal Foundation. With nowhere else to go and time running out, we stepped up and brought him into rescue so he could finally get the care and compassion he deserves.

Unfortunately, Ollie is in much worse condition than we initially anticipated.

According to his medical evaluation, Ollie is suffering from:

💔 A large ulcerated rectal/perianal mass that may be cancerous
💔 A Grade 3/6 heart murmur
💔 Severe dental disease with heavy tartar and gum recession
💔 Testicular abnormalities
💔 Being underweight and in poor body condition
💔 Vision changes consistent with age-related eye disease

The shelter determined that his medical condition was too complex for them to proceed with surgery, and he urgently needed rescue placement and advanced veterinary care.

Right now, Ollie is at our veterinarian undergoing diagnostics, bloodwork, and additional testing to help us determine the severity of his conditions and what treatment options are available. We still don’t know whether his mass is benign or malignant, whether it has spread, or what his long-term prognosis may be.

What we do know is this:

🐾 He deserves a chance.
🐾 He deserves comfort.
🐾 He deserves to know love and safety in his golden years.

No senior should spend their final days scared and alone in a shelter.

We are asking our amazing community to help us give Ollie that chance.

A young dog’s future is hanging in the balance, and we need your help.

Meet Lightning Speed — a 1-year-old boy who is running out of time in the shelter. The shelter environment is taking a serious toll on him, and he urgently needs a foster home where he can decompress, feel safe, and finally just be a dog.

VPRP is ready to step in and save him, but we cannot do it without a committed foster. Fostering saves lives, and right now, it could save his.

Meet Berserk! 🖤🐾

If you’re looking for a dog that can keep up with an active lifestyle, meet Berserk — a stunning 2-3 year old Belgian Malinois with athleticism, intelligence, and endless potential.

Berserk is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, neutered, and has completed an incredible board-and-train program with , where he has worked hard on his manners, obedience, and building a solid foundation for success.

Like many Malinois, Berserk is exceptionally smart, highly food motivated, and absolutely loves to train. He thrives when given a job to do and enjoys learning new skills. His trainer describes him as “what an athlete!” and believes he would excel in activities such as agility, advanced obedience, scent work, or other dog sports. While many Malinois are obsessed with balls and tugs, Berserk is unique in that he is far more focused on training and food rewards than toys.

Berserk can be a little reserved when meeting new people and prefers to warm up on his own terms. Once he trusts you, he is affectionate, playful, and forms strong bonds with his people. Because he communicates clearly through his body language, his future family must be willing to respect his boundaries and understand canine communication. He is not a dog that enjoys being rushed into affection by strangers, and he will do best in a home that can advocate for him and set him up for success.

As a typical Malinois, Berserk is not the right fit for a first-time dog owner. We are specifically seeking a breed-experienced home that understands the mental and physical needs of working dogs and is committed to providing the structure, leadership, training, and enrichment he requires to thrive.

Berserk is looking for a family that sees his incredible potential and is ready to invest the time and attention needed to help him become his very best self. In return, you’ll gain an intelligent, loyal, and devoted companion who is eager to work, learn, and be part of your team.

FRENCHIE LOVERS, TAP IN 🐽

Meet Chip!
This handsome little fella is full of French Bulldog love and is looking for a breed experienced home to call his own! 🥰

He came to us as an owner surrender when his parent sadly never returned home from the hospital and kind neighbors were caring for him until he was placed into our care.
He is approximately 2.5 years old.
(Birthday is 1/21/2024)

Chip gets along with cats, other dogs, and children so he will mesh perfectly into almost any home! He LOVES to play ball and fetch squeaky toys 🎾
He is well versed in a doggy door and LOVES to run and play outside (but never in high temperatures).
In typical Frenchie fashion, he doesn’t always like to share his possessions with other pet friends, and he can be a bit cranky. So toys and treats need to be monitored and preferably given in separate areas as you work through his resource guarding if you have other pets.
Chip is eager to learn, smart, happy, friendly, and just an overall super cool guy 😎

His IDEAL home 🏠

- breed experienced parents
- someone who will play fetch…more often than not
- patience and guidance to help him become his best piggy self

Heartwarming Story Time 🥹

We got an urgent call this morning from a nurse at Valley Hospital, who was seeking temporary placement for her patients sweet Chihuahua, Charlotte. ❤️
Charlotte’s mom Cecilia had to undergo treatment at a facility where Charlotte would not be allowed, and Charlotte had nowhere to go. 🥺
Without hesitation, we stepped in to house this sweet baby for a few days while her mom gets the medical care she needs. Charlotte was terribly sad to leave her mom at first, but she’s settled so nicely in a super fun and loving temp foster until her mom is feeling better.
Keeping families together is what we love to do! ❤️
