NCRGC, and Defensive Pistol, are committed to safety within the shooting sports. In support of this commitment, we are offering the NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) course to regular and associate (spouse) Club members and shooting discipline support staff on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 8 am to 5 pm at the River of Life Fellowship – AMP in Wellington. The cost of the course is normally $125 to $200 per person; however, you can attend for free. In return, we ask that you RSO at one or more of our sanctioned events and help educate other members when you are on the range. The Club will provide lunch and refreshments for this all-day course. There is no live-fire component with this course and no live am******on is allowed in the classroom. Please do not carry fi****ms (open or concealed) into the classroom. As an added benefit, you will have four Chief Range Safety Officers (CRSOs) tag-teaming the instruction for the course!
Participants will learn about RSO roles and responsibilities; Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range inspection and range rules; range safety briefing; emergency procedures; fi***rm stoppages and malfunctions; and there will be an open-book, multiple-choice test and review. You will also learn, straight from Discipline Chairs, how specific Disciplines approach safety and the role of the RSO in different manners, while achieving the same goal of overall safety at NCRGC.
Additionally, you will receive an RSO cap upon successful completion of the course. Please sign up using the link below and if you do sign up, please commit to attending so that you do not take a slot from another member. We truly appreciate your commitment to safety and to helping the Club maintain its strong safety record of zero serious fi***rm-related injuries in our 78-year history. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.
