Rebuild Globally

Rebuild Globally We believe education and job training programs are the most powerful weapons in the fight against extreme poverty.

We create powerful and holistic programs that empower men and women to end the cycle of poverty in their communities. REBUILD globally was born from the disaster of the 2010 Haiti earthquake and survived in its wake by embarking on a mission to provide a sustainable, entrepreneurial solution for survivors. REBUILD globally is a non-profit organization fighting poverty in Haiti through education an

d job training programs. We address the complex issues of poverty by identifying the most vulnerable populations and targeting the root problem – the lack of education and job readiness. Our goal is to replace the conventional methods of charitable aid with a thriving social entrepreneurial ecosystem. After years of working in the most vulnerable communities, we have found the most impactful way to lessen the effects of poverty is through our social enterprise model that combine the efforts of our non-profit organization with our for-profit ethical fashion business. In 2015, REBUILD globally incubated a locally owned for-profit social business, deux mains, a social impact factory that handcrafts sandals and accessories from upcycled tires and high-quality leathers. Our model has proven that income generation is a sustainable way for people to transition from desperation and dependency to one of self-sustainability. REBUILD globally and deux mains are working hand in hand to change the system that keeps poor people impoverished.

It’s safe to say that the last Saturday of each month is quickly becoming a favorite at REBUILD globally as we continue bringing each month to a close with a session focused on physical education and recreation.

This past Saturday, we introduced several new games and activities, but with the World Cup approaching, and Haiti proudly taking part, we couldn’t leave soccer out of the fun! Students enthusiastically joined in, showing teamwork, energy, and plenty of smiles along the way.

Everyone had a fantastic time (our tutors included), and we’re already looking forward to next month’s activities!

Bòn Fèt Manman! 🇭🇹

Today is Mother’s Day in Haiti! This photo was taken during a parents’ meeting with our students and shows some of them alongside their beautiful mothers. Today, we honor their love, strength, and sacrifices, and we wish all mothers in Haiti a beautiful and joyful day.

The final video in our series honoring Macbeth Studio’s 20th Anniversary was shot in 2019. It is perhaps our favorite, as it highlights a full circle moment: Rony Saint Louis’ journey through REBUILD globally’s programs.

What makes this video even more meaningful is that Rony is now the Operations Manager at our Market Engine, Deux Mains. Lives transformed by the work, and captured with unmatched artistry by Macbeth Studio, Jim Hobart and his whole team.

We love you, Macbeth Studio! Thank you for believing in us, and for showing the world what’s possible when you refuse to give up.

Part two of our Macbeth Studio 20th Anniversary Series!

In 2017, Macbeth Studio came back to Haiti to document another powerful moment in our journey. We had just begun working with a vulnerable community who had been deported, and were living in dire conditions at the Haitian-Dominican Border. Jim Hobart, Morgan Walker, and the entire Macbeth Studio team fearlessly traveled to the refugee camp with us and masterfully documented this incredible moment in our history.

Part one of our Macbeth Studio’s 20th Anniversary Series!

This video, filmed by Macbeth Studio and edited by the immensely talented Morgan Walker at , takes us back to 2015, when REBUILD globally had catapulted to a new level of success and impact, and our programs were truly beginning to take shape. It was Macbeth’s first full feature capturing the breadth of our work and the energy building at our beautiful oasis in Port-au-Prince.

For the first time, we were able to share the full scope of what we were creating with people around the world who wanted to become part of this incredible story.

Over the next several days, we will honor a very special friend and collaborator of REBUILD globally: Macbeth Studio and Jim Hobart. We invite you to join us in a series that will take us down memory lane.

This week, Macbeth Studio celebrated their 20th Anniversary, and we are so proud to celebrate this milestone with them. For 15 of those 20 years, they have stood beside us; documenting our story and work in Haiti.

This photo of Jim and our Founder, Julie Colombino-Billingham, was taken on Macbeth’s first trip to Port-au-Prince in 2011, when we were an idea beginning to take hold.

From that day forward Macbeth has given us an incredible gift by allowing us to share the beauty and heartbreak we witnessed in Haiti. Their photography remains memorialized on our website, but perhaps their most moving work was the videos they created for our annual fundraisers, bringing our supporters into the heart of Haiti.

Stay tuned as we share these videos one by one to honor Macbeth’s extraordinary gift for storytelling.

“Tout venn touche kè”

Translation: “All veins lead to the heart.” ❤️🇭🇹

This is one of our favorite Haitian proverbs. It’s a powerful reminder that no matter our age, the path we are on, or where we come from, we are all connected to one another.

Community, love, and shared humanity bind us together; even across oceans.
