Coach Pavan has developed keen chess players through our SCORE Program, but the kids need chess kits and some other equipment. This will help with practice at home and preparing for competitions.

⚽ RLFL FALL 2026 IS UNDERWAY!

📍 All activities take place at Gardner International Magnet School
⚽ Practices: 6:00–7:15 PM (tutoring begins at 3:15)
🏆 First game day: September 18
🎃 Halloween Open Cup: October 31

Lansing School District families: transportation is not confirmed until Wilbur Lovitt contacts you with your child’s bus assignment. Families are responsible for pickup from Gardner unless another arrangement has been confirmed. Please email Wilbur or Paul to coordinate rides home if needed.

Every player must check in at the RLFL registration table before going to the field, even if they already attended tutoring.

Individual game times and team assignments will be shared separately.

DID YOU KNOW ⁉️

Our founders voted on July 2, adopted the words on July 4, and most didn’t sign until August 2. Apparently, declaring independence took more than one meeting.

Fixing youth soccer might take a few, too. 🇺🇸⚽

At our first First Friday Football Talk, we raised more questions than we answered:

⚽ What does soccer ACTUALLY cost?

💰 WHO should pay that cost?

📊 How much is too much?

👔 How much of a club’s budget should be spent on qualified coaches and top facilities?

🏘️ And should clubs be responsible for making the game accessible to every child, or is that somebody else’s problem?

Two things are undeniable. Soccer has a cost. Someone always pays (whether with time or a check book).

On Friday, September 4, our delegates (THAT’S YOU) will reconvene to tackle those questions, hear more perspectives, and attempt to finalize our declaration regarding these pressing issues.

Then we’ll turn toward the next debate: how youth soccer is actually organized and whether the system makes any sense at all.

Come discuss. Come disagree. Come sign our declaration to US Soccer.

Quality soccer should be accessible to every kid in Lansing.

But that only happens when the community is willing to step in and help make it possible.

We can talk all day about the problems in youth soccer- the cost, the barriers, the lack of opportunities. But pointing out the problem doesn’t change it. People do.

This Sunday, August 23rd, we’re inviting anyone interested in helping coach in the Real Lansing Football League to come learn more.

⚽ 3:00–5:00 PM — Leo’s Lodge
Come meet us, hear more about the league, understand what it means to be a coach, ask questions, and enjoy some light appetizers.

⚽ 5:40–7:00 PM — Gardner International Magnet School
We’ll head to the field for a practical coaching session and walk through what coaching in the league actually looks like.

You do not have to have everything figured out. We provide structure, weekly plans, and support throughout the season.

What we need are people willing to show up for Lansing kids.
